The Dancers of the Veil
The Dancers of the Veil is a minor guild (known to players as a 'club')
open to females in Genesis. The residence and joinroom of the
Dancers is located in the Sybarus Bazaar, accessible via Icky
Bod's Pub.
Dancers of the Veil are beautiful, graceful, and sensual. They
are highly respected members of Sybarite Society, and highly
sought-after both as entertainers and as temple-dancers. Qalita
is the most famous of the Dancers of the Veil, performing for
private audiencesat Icky Bod's Pub, and publicly for the High
Commissioner at the Ziggurat Pleasure Palace in the Forbidden City.
In accordance with the theme of Avenir, only female humans,
elves, and gnomes may join. Sybarites believe that Hobbits no
longer exist, and dwarves and goblins lack the necessary physical
grace.
The females who join receive two guild objects (a veil and ankle
bells), numerous emotions for use in enhancing 'feminine mystique',
and an improvement in their appearance (They look like the image
of perfection to themselves and others). When the player leaves
the club, her original appearance is restored.
As a minor guild it offers nothing in the way of combat aid to
members so there is no tax on experience, and no penelty upon
leaving.
