Esteemed Fellow Genesis Enthusiasts,

In response to a number of issues which have recently arisen, I have
taken the liberty of performing some club-switcherooery. The two clubs
in question are the Actors Club, located near Sparkle, and the Wise
Persons of Genesis club located in Solace within the Krynn domain.

The original intent of the Actors Club was to provide a venue for
players to attempt to improve the game by dedicating themselves to a
path of pure roleplay. The club was exclusive, as only existing members
could approve and bring in new people. One of the benefits of being
in the club was the much-prized free-emote that came with membership.
Some have felt that over the years the "purity" of the club has been
quite badly compromised and membership used to satisfy things other
than improvement of the game through roleplay. As a result, the council
of the club requested that free-emotes be removed from the Actors and
made available to the members of the general population who have been
with us long enough to know what they are doing. The idea is that by
removing free-emotes from the list of club benefits, only those who
truly wish to participate in the original charter of the club - namely,
roleplay for the pure sake of good roleplay, will have any interest
in being among the ranks of the Thespians.

In keeping with the wishes of these players, I have therefore removed
free emotes from the Actors Club and placed the ability instead in the
Wise Persons of Genesis. This club is open to people who have achieved
100 or more days of game age. The assumption is that such people will
understand the expectations of the game well enough to know what good
roleplay is, and use free emotes responsibly.

There is no guarantee for this, however. Please understand, then, that
I will personally be watching the emotes that people come up with very
carefully. Abuse of this ability will very quickly result in offending
individuals being banned from future use. It always seems useful to
provide some guidelines, so here they are:

Proper uses of Free Emotes:

    - detailed expression
Gorboth casts his eyes downward, too humiliated to respond.
Gorboth places his arm on your shoulder, a look of understanding
          in his eyes.
Gorboth sniffs with disgust at such ridiculous behavior!

    - plausible actions
Gorboth feels the nearby tree trunk, tracing the damaged
          bark with his fingertips.
Gorboth leaps up a few steps on the nearby rock face. He
shields his eyes from the glaring sun and peers out over
          the distant landscape.
Gorboth kicks at a nearby puddle, splashing you with muddy
          water!

Improper uses of Free Emotes: (which will get you banned!)

    - implausible actions or those that ruin a medieval theme
Gorboth dons his Superman cape and begins flying around,
burning the words, "U SUCK!" in the ground with his lazer
          vision!
Gorboth pulls a large cactus from his butt and throws it at you!
        Gorboth wields his runed AK-47.

    - false imitation of game mechanics
Gorboth wields the flaming black broadsword in his right hand.
Gorboth slashes you painfully with his runed falchion!
Gorboth spouts forth fierce flames. The flames wither you!

    - anything remotely resembling harassment
Gorboth touches you in that extra special place.
Gorboth looks you over. My what dark skin you have!

    - emotes that demonstrate complete lack of true roleplay
Gorboth laughs at you so hard. Dude, that was hilareous!!
Gorboth thinks you are, like, totally L-A-M-E.

I think that about covers it. Do a good job. Free emotes can be very
cool when used well! :-)

G.

p.s. It is likely you may not feel these changes till after the next
     Armageddon.
