Donut Dwellers ...

With the coming of Midsummer's Day, spirits are high. Ah ... the air is
fresh! Ah ... the birds sing! Ah ... there goes a severed head rolling
down the ... WHAT THE ...?!?

*cough*

Yes. Well, spirits are high. And for some of us that means we feel the lust
for battle in our veins. We strive to "mix it up", "stir the pot",
"cleave the skull" ... you know ... fun stuff!

However, not everyone thinks it is so fun. And thus, we need to use some
common sense. As has been well established since I began governing player
affairs, I do not have the time, interest, inclination, or surplus sanity
required to police PvP affairs. Thus, it is pretty much up to the players
to determine the norms and govern themselves.

That being said, there is a line that, when crossed, turns PvP fun for one
person into harassment for another. So, I'd like to establish some ground
rules that can help you understand what will get me off the couch. I don't
like getting off the couch, so don't cross the line!

    1. There is a difference between someone who "asks for it" and someone
who is "minding their own business." Lets call them AFI and MTOB.
    2. It is always open season on the AFI character. These guys know
what they are doing, like to stir the pot, and deserve what they
get. So ... if they die because they are always involved in PvP
shenanigans ... well ... the universe is in harmony.
    3. The MTOB character is often "victimized" by the AFI guy. There he
is, questing in Kalad, doing some herbing, just a bit of this
or that and up comes AFI and shouts "Fresh Meat!" and ganks our
poor MTOB with a team of his favorite AFI buddies. Is this
illegal? Well, no. The lands are dangerous, and who am I to
insist that players can't be thuggish jerks? However ... we must
respect the right of Mr. MTOB to enjoy Genesis, too. And thus,
it does not work for this scenareo to happen over and over between
the same people. That becomes a case of harassment.

So, lets boil this down ...

    - If you are going to attack someone for no reason other than that
you want to be a mindless killer, and they are just minding their
own business and haven't asked for it (being in an enemy guild is
*not* asking for it), please make sure that:
        1. They are not a newbie.
        2. You haven't killed them in a similar way recently.
        3. You don't mind being called a thuggish jerk.
    - If you want to kill someone who has a reputation for doing the above,
you have my blessing. Please repeat as often as you like.

And, I guess, lets boil it down even further (sometimes it takes saying
something 3 times for it to sink in, I've found ...):

Q: Can I kill someone for no good reason?
A: Uh, I guess so, you thuggish jerk.
Q: Can I do it over and over and over and over to the same guy?
A: What, you mean kill the same guy over and over, even if he isn't
       asking for it?
    Q: YEAH!!
A: Uh ... are you serious? Why would you do that?
    Q: CAUSE I ROCK!!!
A: Uh, in that case only if you enjoy seeing an annoyed AoP pushing
lots of buttons that cause you to rock considerably less.
Q: Oh. Well, but I can still kill mindlessly if I want to?
A: Sure. But use your head. Don't ruin the game for anyone by making
a habit of targetting them over and over unless they've asked for
       it.
    Q: I ROCK!!!
    A: ....

There. I'm going back to the couch. I'd like to stay there, thank you
very much!
