Could always add special requirements for new gamecontent that requires a tank class (else npc deals much more damage). I see two reasons: first, they have grown huge because they find pleasure in growing - if their progress stops dead in its tracks, they lose interest. Second, if they die, their previous size will be irrecoverable, which is frustrating and may be a deal-breaker for some of the huge myths.

How about gradually, let's say over a period of two years, increasing white hits power to effectively decrease special power back to 100%, while at the same time gradually increasing all npc stats, so that a troll with a 100 stat average will have a 270 stat average in 24 months' time? Meet the corrective measures in the middle? Cut special power from 270% to 140%, boost white hits accordingly, so the nerf is not as severe?
