Re: The rise of the Nameless Horror!

Khiraa is a part, or a Cult under the leadership of Lord Gylar, the lich. Lord Gylar is not seated in the Khiraa temple, but in his Castle. Therein, a different order may be created, which consist of a layman melee-part, and a layman clerical part. They serve as "hangarounds" for the true selection,...

Re: The case for closure – fighter guilds

Maybe not relevant, or on the sideline, but since all full vampire prospects starts out as laymans , it is possible to remain in this position (though high risk). This adds +1 lay option to the game. Furthermore, may add +1 layman elsewhere that is slightly under brainstorming. So, this, if everythi...

Re: The rise of the Nameless Horror!

I would also add into what Rache earlier said regarding why it would, or could succeed: Initial recruitment / success of membership depends often on recruitment policies, restrictions etc. To ensure higher playerbase/membership, one could explore to keep the first parts of a guild free to join (stil...

Re: The rise of the Nameless Horror!

Regarding FK: The intended design was for it to be an option, but a hard one - you couldn't just join and get all the juices immediately like AA or DA, but would rather equire effort. At release, many applied, and many failed, but some was given their chance, and some failed during apprenticeship, ...

Re: The rise of the Nameless Horror!

Just to clarify, you don't get all the "juices" immediately in DAs, KoS or PoT. All of those guilds require some serious effort and time investment to get to reasonable levels of effectiveness and unlocking all the perks. Sure, it was not ment to be taken completely literary. Progression in MM, PoT...

Re: The rise of the Nameless Horror!

I believe it's nr #3, for the Vampires. Though, the former vamps ran like traditional guild concepts, or coven-like, with initial selected individuals, recruitment processes etc. The new one won't, and will operate in a way that does'nt...exist in Genesis yet. Regarding FK: The intended design was f...

Re: The rise of the Nameless Horror!

A clarification: I would do it, due to slight bias and nostalgia (I was around when Khiraa was a faction that ran around, adding depth to the game as an independent operator), plus to maybe make Raumdor a bit more complete. Raumdor's theme revolves around that cult. But Arman probably has the right ...

Re: Alignment

If we went this route, we would need to prepare content in advance or risk alienating half of our playerbase. Well now the other half is a slight alienated. :) The easiest way to fix this imbalance though is to allow good-alignment to drop as slow as the evil-alignment, at the possible expense of t...

Re: Khiraa

It is hypothetically easy to port it to new codebase though and bring it up to modern standards (I already refurbished parts of their guildhall) - I could do it in just a matter of a couple of days (actual developmenttime), but it would largely depend on administrative decisions and possibly questio...

Re: Alignment

There are some major issues with doing it that way though, Redblade. First, we probably cut over 50% of the available gamecontent in one swift blow for evil players, which is not exactly a minor nerf. My current summary of high end and intermediate grinders and itemholders shows that majority of tho...
