Your stuff does not disappear when you die, but your corpse will eventually decay and other people can pick up your corpse/items. If you are able to make it back to your corpse you should be able to retrieve your items.

The same argument can be made to allow for players to make up their own titles. Genesis is a descriptive game... guild titles are a feature of that. And it is a feature I like and strongly support.
