Yes game needs randomness. But not randomness to the moment where game becomes totally unpredictable. That's why "dice" are tweaked, or systems are built to be less random. I'm pretty sure some things in genesis do that right (skillchecks? Say you're not able to pick that lock *ever*), but apparent...

Random numbers are exactly that. Random. No they're not. Also what matters is their distribution. Standard deviation. Value boundaries. And other math stuff I forgot. Random numbers are exactly that. Random. I've had similar experiences with different mobs in the past. You know/expect a certain outcome of said encounters because that's the "norm". Panic level definitely plays a part in combat. There's a huge difference between extremely secure and very secure at my level. You are hit more often and harder by melee. Almost as if my defense skill has dropped.
