Re: Random Pieces of Wisdom
I'm serious. I died more often because of wimpying than not. And it's especially annoying in teams - if the leader starts wimpying around it confuses everyone, if someone else wimpies, the team often has to go places it doesn't want to. In my scripts I always put a trigget to set wimpy to "bra...

Whaat?? You trying to get people killed?:)Zhar wrote: 3. Wimpy setting other than "Brave" is only useful in case you disconnect, otherwise it's more of a hindrance than help.

Re: Why newbies have it hard in Gen
Oh yeah checking for size difference might be an even better idea than just checking if its a player. Accidentally attacking someone, or someone else's prey more commonly, due to scripts, is one source of conflict, and also makes automated scripting at least a little dangerous. So you cant just leav...

Re: Why newbies have it hard in Gen
Would you use it in your scripts if there was a kill command which did not attack npcs who are already in combat? Absolutely. A simple "are you sure you want to attack X"-check would do the trick. Similar to the one we have when you try to attack someone you remember. Actually it would ma...

Re: Why newbies have it hard in Gen
What I don't like here is the word "script"... If you dont like scripts Genesis isn't your game I think.:) But yeah, the ogre should definitely fix his script. A simple trigger to move on if someone is already engaged in a fight should be enough. Many seems to lack that in their scripts.....

Re: Parry and Defense
At some point I was told parry is useful when fighting more than one enemy. But I really dont know for sure what it does. Things like this I think should be a little more open. I've always felt that. So you can do "help combat" and get some general info about what skills stats do etc. Same...

Re: Kender XP
Jhael: Well yes... sometimes killing lots of small things is better, but for the most part I dont think it is. And I dont think we can compare single "boss" NPCs with grinding areas. If we compare grinding areas we have the top ones like Qualinost and Mithas, who are serious challenges, bu...
