One of my main issues with wearing a shield, or two for that matter, is that you actually do _not_ lose any offensive capabilities by doing so. You still happily punch away with your hand or hands while wearing the shield. Most people would of course not notice this as they would have the option to ...

The bleeding wound was removed over ten years ago Booger so as far as I know there currently is no reason to drink water. If anything it might be bad idea to be fully soaked as you may then not be able to gulp down potentially life saving potions and brews.

The bleeding wound worked a little bit like a poison and drained you of 'soakedness' at regular time intervals but if you were extremely thirsty it would drain your health instead. Being soaked did help against bleeding to death when suffering from the bleeding wound inflicted by the Goblin Lord. But it has been a while since he dealt any such wounds.
