I do hope we'll see a good, working solution with captcha soon enough.
Personally I have no idea if scripters would manage to bypass that somehow but Im pretty sure it simply wouldn't be worth risking since there would be even no win guaranteed considering draw feature.

You are joking, aren't you? Or you are more skilled with scripting then other people.Sykil wrote:Easily converted by script.

Re: Stopping script-buying on the Auction House
Either way, I think IF we do not want this, is not a captcha when bidding better than rules and punishments? Saves some trouble for AoP, and saves players from getting into trouble with AoP? Yup, this is a very good idea. Also it would help with all those bot accusations. Winning an auction by grin...

Re: Stopping script-buying on the Auction House
This idea isn't bad overall, even a final draw feature.

Re: Stopping script-buying on the Auction House
I guess? But would that really happen? The players who are doing it right now are doing it remotely while they grind. Are you saying they would give up grinding to sit for hours at a time scripting in the AH? Of course not. But I had impression everyone shall have "decent chance of getting an ...

Re: Stopping script-buying on the Auction House
it would remove the problem of instascript buyouts robbing other players who are interested in a decent chance of getting an item that comes up for bid No, it would not. Scripted char will still come to tent from common/church/orcs/... much faster then others. Other ideas presented here were fulfil...

Re: Stopping script-buying on the Auction House
Kirsach, your idea is very good, same for Kilrayne's and a few more. They simply give everyone a chance to participate and make prices more market-based. In opposite, 'first one at tent wins' rule doesn't fulfill any of the above two goals. They suppose we shall be running back and forth only to get...

Re: Stopping script-buying on the Auction House
This won't lead to cheat buying, but if it do, the person is now idling with the item which is existing rule they break in addition to unattended play. If you can't enforce that, you should not be aop It WILL cause people to idle there. Noone shall cause people to unwanted behaviour, we shall rathe...

Re: Stopping script-buying on the Auction House
Yeah, scripting is generally allowed in Genesis.
We are mostly discussing how to avoid flaws made by scripted bids. It seems doable, without any need of baning AH scripts as whole.

Re: Stopping script-buying on the Auction House
I can imagine it working like that: New auction is on, min. 20, buyout 50. Timer starts (lets say 3 mins). Lets imagine avg. market-price of an item is 100. 0.2 s: player 1 script bids 40 0.3 s: player 2 script bids 60 (he can then see 50 has been reached on aulist; no win as still 2:59.7 of buyout ...
