Re: time to evaluate the perma-everything change?

... on the right path.... ... still have work to do ... tweak the system ... better balance and design .... So can we ironstone our gear now, assured that it will not be taken away by some future change? gonna guess that's a no Based on previous comments by various wizards/admin, I'd have to agree ...

Re: time to evaluate the perma-everything change?

It's nice not having to constantly be on the lookout for gear. Almost every single guild I've been in, it's always been that way. Whether you lost most top end items after armageddon so it's a constant grind to get a new one. Or the one you finally managed to get does not glow so you're on the prowl...

Re: What should a guild have for it's type?

Interesting dilemma. Suggestion? Obviously if we went from 270% down to what it should be instantly, it would be a massive instantaneous nerf to those people impacted. What if you changed it over time so it didn't seem so massive? Over say a 3-6 month period of time? People wouldn't notice it _as_ m...

Re: Problems if we get too many newbies

A lot of great ideas brought up. I think they're all going in the right direction. I'd focus on the main challenge at hand though and try to keep it as simple as possible without major changes. With some of the major changes being suggested, there will be a lot of unintended consequences. That will ...

Re: Recent changes to crits and rng

Yes game needs randomness. But not randomness to the moment where game becomes totally unpredictable. That's why "dice" are tweaked, or systems are built to be less random. I'm pretty sure some things in genesis do that right (skillchecks? Say you're not able to pick that lock *ever*), bu...

Re: Recent changes to crits and rng

Random numbers are exactly that. Random. No they're not. Also what matters is their distribution. Standard deviation. Value boundaries. And other math stuff I forgot. As far as I know (some) modern games "cheat" with RNG to make it look more fair. Not sure if gen does that. The reason why...

Re: Recent changes to crits and rng

Random numbers are exactly that. Random. I've had similar experiences with different mobs in the past. You know/expect a certain outcome of said encounters because that's the "norm". Throw in some randomness and you likely had 2 extreme cases of very bad luck. It's like winning the lottery...

Re: Making non-magical items always save

This topic hasn't been discussed in a long while. The matter was considered settled because newbies were no longer mailing the AoP about it because it was explained to them in the form of the Patrol guild. But here's the catch, those newbies didn't stick around. A few months back there was a spike ...
