I have no idea how to code, but could one write a script to periodically <appraise light> and then <extinguish torches> if 1) it's light, naturally or otherwise, and 2) nothing is emitting darkness? It would interfere with magic map and seeing exits - you can not see them in dark and you would have...

I agree about the layman power thing but it is quite normal to want for yourself that fresh, juicy and green grass you can see on the other side of the road.

The benefits are available only to some. Those with no access to them suspect/perceive them as overly beneficial.
If there are more guilds with such benefits, first ppl will rush to them to check them out and if they are overly beneficial, they will stay there.

If you are afraid of that player or his alts, just switch to a Mage or create a Mage alt. If a hero SoHM or EC can kill a myth fighter, especially an ogre, who has more trouble with getting resistances, then he poses a little threat.
