Re: Magic & spells
I've tried to differentiate magical skill from magical source. You can have all the skill in the world, but if you don't have access to the source of magic, you won't be able to do anything magical. Without a guild's unique theme, access to a source of magic will be very limited. Depending on the &...

Increasing the specific and direct applications of panic could be interesting. In so far as I think of DIS as a measure of your ability to keep your metaphorical sh... stuff together under adverse conditions, it could factor into almost anything. If there was a linear progression or a more reasonabl...

Re: What are you reading right now?
I tend to juggle a few books at a time, usually a non-fiction or literature book and a bunch of fluff. Re: What is a fair formula to calculate NPC combat exp rewar
You're all thinking of rewarding darkness-usage for shutting down dangers, or? If I understand your question correctly, yes. In so far as the skills and the abilities required to use darkness effectively are taxed and balanced, then using them to their full benefit seems only right. That said, I do...

Re: What is a fair formula to calculate NPC combat exp rewar
Ultimately, I think this boils down to "What should be encouraged (rewarded) in combat with NPCs?" I think that first and foremost, player skill and it's close cousin, luck, should be rewarded, such that over time investing thought and energy into being good at fighting pays dividends over...

Risk vs. Reward - Thanks For The Expirience
Death was supposed to hurt on Genesis. Why is death supposed to hurt in Genesis? Is there any reason that characters shouldn't simply grow and grow? Is there any excitement without some element of risk? Is there any utility to having characters ever regress? Should there be any differentiation or b...

Rembering Inactive Friends and Foes
The only beef I have with who and remembering is I would like more spaces in my head, as its sad to delete someone from memory to make room for a new friend or foe. I have deleted some great names just because they no longer play. This is especially tough with the reinvigorating old players portion...

"Daily Donut"
Cherek, I believe that we are largely in agreement about news concepts, and I really like a lot of your ideas, so I hope the rest of this note is received in the spirit of constructive critique with which it is offered. At a gut level, packaging this as a newspaper and making it function like smart ...

Guild Information, Recruitment and Activity
The Sparkle library would benefit from being the place where one would go to get information regarding the various guilds. Given the standardization project, I think I would give each guild a section of shelving in the existing appropriate rooms, in which there would appear linked copies of selected...

Re: Promotion, playerbase, grind areas, cloning and restorat
To keep the players in the game you need to keep them interested in playing. And there are quite a wide spectrum one need to cover to keep all satiesfied and keep playing. So let's see what kind of players we have and what I think that needs to be implemented. This article describes four types of M...
