Re: The rise of the Nameless Horror!

I am very anti hiding occ and lay guild titles, with the exception of rogue classes where it is thematically appropriate. We are a text-based game. Titles and title progression are important at adding depth and distinction to a character. Choosing a layman guild should be more than just to maximise ...

Re: The case for closure – fighter guilds

I agree that the statistics become less reliable when players idle 24/7. Some guilds may seem quite active, while in fact it's just one player idling for a year :) But... is that a reason enough to revert the rule? Obviously some players enjoy being able to idle, and we moved away from that rule be...

Re: The case for closure – fighter guilds

Stats are always interesting. Context is important though.

So why do people think the top five guilds are so active? I have my own thinking on this, but I'd like to hear what others think.

Re: Close the thief guild!

My most recent idea was to introduce a special system to the thieves: You can attempt to (successfully or not) steal from other players 3 times within 24 hours. After the third time you receive a warning that you're drawing too much attention to the Cabal. Each subsequent attempt produces another w...

Re: Druids of the Donut

Imho, balance considerations should go against warlocks and EW, so maybe your alchemy idea has to be added to make it a semi-viable, not replace the things Sylphan listed :P I'm pretty sure Arman said he'd nerf locks/ew whenever an evil OOTS alternative came out. That might be in the forums somewhe...

Re: The case for closure – fighter guilds

I wish there were more votes I could apply. While I do think certain guilds should be shut down for inactivity (or fixed) I also think that narrowing the options forces people to optimize. Merging the DA sounds like a no-brainer to me. WoHS manages three factions. Add Mace wielding DA and Axe wield...

Re: The rise of the Nameless Horror!

Arman, As stated above, the CoCs have been in development for so long that excluding any option on the grounds that it thematically overlaps with a guild potentially opening in 2030 is simply not valid. At some point the plug must be pulled. Some would say said plug should have been pulled half a d...

Re: Stealth guild for newbies?

Well, we could definitely use a ranger-like layman. There are Archers but they're fairly limiting in terms of who can join them. I've had this idea of beast-masters where you're a ranger and have your companion animal with you (similar to Maligant's doggos) that can track and lend a hand in combat ...

Re: Stealth guild for newbies?

The problem is that this "a bit later" comes at the point when those guilds become super niche. Also, Tricksters do not offer any pickpocketing (they're pranksters, not thieves) so there's no worry about that. I think that their location (approximate at least) should be advertised a bit more. Surel...

Re: The rise of the Nameless Horror!

I didn't mind the Khiraa, and i'd love to see some sort of guilds linked to the dark horror domain of Raumdor. But the Khiraa of old won't be coming back. Cherek has outlined a lot of the core reasons. The others are that: * the 'lich' thematics overlaps too closely with what Gorboth's necromancers ...
