The Basic Package for Beginner Mudlet Users

Post by Syrk » 25 Dec 2017 15:24

Basic Package

The idea was to provide one package with all basic fuctionality that is provided by the web client, so Magic Map, Chat Box and some Vital Bars. Generally basic layout without complicated insides, so a person new to Mudlet can start to play genesis quickly.

Image

The package BP was put together from:

Magic Map:
Map20170610.zip by Findis

Chat Box using GMPC: (set to block NPC talk)
Chat20170610.zip by Findis

WList - Wielded/Worn Items List:
based on package For_Genesis_20130329b1.xml by Hairetikos

Vitals - Set of Vital Bars using GMPC:
Vitals20160213.zip

Other:
Enchantments - translation of imbued ones descriptions
Queue- creates an alias that can be used to set a delay u want between commands
Herb info
Targeting alias
Kill counter
Misc

The package is provided in two versions, which are basically the same, except some minor settings that should make them fit better with displays of resolutions: 1920 x 1080 and 1366 x 768.

If the layout is not fitting well you may increase readability by making some changes to your system:
-in windows: change display resolution to higher, change size of text display, make windows bar smaller.
-in mudlet: change font size, change icon panel size.

How to install

Download and save file BP_20171225_1920x1080.zip or BP_20171225_1366x768.zip, where
1920x1080 and 1366x768 are the resolution versions.

To install the package in mudlet go:
Package Manager -> Install -> choose 'BP_20171225_<resolution>.zip' -> Ok

Indeed, very good work, Syrk. I'm using it, with some modifications. I am not sure how to get the dragonscale armours to work on your worn / wielded list, though. I have tried tinkering a bit, to no avail. Have those worked for you? Thanks again for all the help, and now this wonderful package!

Non-standard (especially magical) equipment may not work with standard wield/unwield/wear/remove triggers from Hairetikos package but I added some of them manually in my version. The dragonscales were among them, so if you are using the BP package they should work. They do for me.

You may check if those are not blocked in your Mudlet:
Triggers->Basic_Package-trigger->Wlist-trigger-BP->Keeping track->Wear and Wield->Wear epic armours->dragonscales
also:
Remove epic armours->dragonscales

Below is the screenshot from my (slightly modified) version of the package. The thick rugged platemail is a non-standard armour worn on chest, arms and legs but is on the list.

Yes. They are there, and they do not work. No big deal, really. I just wondered. It's odd they work for you and not for me.

So the problem was that Sylphan, being of good align, is getting a different message when wearing a dragonscale.
Solution is to add second entry to the trigger.

The message was:

Code: Select all

You get an uneasy feeling as you wear the blue dragonscale armour over your shoulders. You feel a little drained.
In your Mudlet go to:
Triggers->Basic_Package-trigger->Wlist-trigger-BP->Keeping track->Wear and Wield->Wear epic armours->dragonscales
and in second box paste:

Code: Select all

^(?:> )?You get an uneasy feeling as you wear the (blue dragonscale|red dragonscale|white dragonscale|green dragonscale|black dragonscale) armour over your shoulders(.*?)$
The armours/weapons that give non-standard messages when worn/wielded may need to be manually added, just like the dragonscales.

As Syrk says, one must be attentive to the messages that appear when an item is worn or wielded, and removed or unwielded. It looks a bit intimidating, to a beginner, but usually the problem has to do with either the wrong message in the trigger, or a problem with copying/pasting from the main message area. For example, I've found that copy/paste sometimes misses the space between words, when one word appears on one line and the following word on the line below.

Basically, this package is very good, as long as you are willing to study what's in it a bit and customize it for your own needs and preferences.

Big thanks, again, to Syrk for this.
