That's not what Cherek is saying at all.

And yet the people botting while not even at the computer still continue to do so. Its been going on long before Cherek came into his position but I know it is very easy to investigate and come to a conclusion.

If he has and determined nothing they are doing is wrong then I'll gladly apologize and admit I was wrong. But after seeing in game and reading several logs I find that very hard to believe.

Is the penalty for botting (caught several times) death without recovery?

If not, you can change the rules and allow it.

Dont see why it needs to even be several times. Warned once, do it again and punish the whole team.

But since I am new as AoP I felt it perhaps would be more productive to talk to the botting players first, hear them out, etc, instead of immediately hitting the death and destruction button. I gave everyone a chance to express their feelings on the matter, some were angry and upset of course, but still I learned some things about how the people who do bot feel about the whole thing.
Seems like a mature, well-reasoned, and rational response.

I disagree with it wholeheartedly. Kill em. Kill em all, and keep killin em until they learn or leave. They aren't adding anything but numbers to the game.

First its a scolding, then a death (not sure about recovery) and third strike is deletion if I am not mistaking, I hope its deletion tho, and that there are no limits on the time between, I know Irk has been busted atleast once, years ago, after that he learned how to make sound triggers :P

Current penalties can be found in "help botting" they vary a bit depending on type of botting. But we're looking into changing them a bit. I feel some of the penalties are a bit too nice and some maybe a bit too harsh. It's death with recovery currently.

Thats not entirely true, many people who bot are also very active players when they DON'T bot. It's pretty common to bot from work for example, and not add much more than numbers to the game, as you say, but the same player can be very active, social and a good RP'er when at the computer on nights and weekends. Very few players, if any, are 100% bots. So just wiping them from the game does not only remove a number.

I'd much more prefer they DONT play at all though if all they can do is bot, and keep playing actively when they can. Unfortunately the rewards for botting are so good, people do it anyway. We basically offer a bank vault full of gold, without any security, and then hoping to catch and punish the people who can't help but rob it all the time... It's not a perfect setup, but it's what we got to work with currently.
