I am trying to catch a specific type of fish. This fish only travels in a "shoal." I have tried:
    1. kill <fish>
    2. kill shoal of <fish>
    3. catch <fish>
    4. catch shoal of <fish>
    5. net <fish>
    6. net shoal of <fish>
What am I missing?

Are you sure it's the right fish? I am guessing it's the Calian sea riddle?

yes to both. I have examined <fish> and got results so I know I am typing it right.

You're trying to kill the wrong fish. The ones that travel in shoals are "scenery," like the deer and foxes that sometimes dart across the road in Sparkle. They are too fleet for any of us, no matter how keen our syntax is.

Yes. Bear in mind that 1. it must be the right fish to match the riddle and 2. its corpse will sink, so you'll need to go to the sea floor to cut whatever part of it the gate wants.
