game question clarification

i know half-elf fighter.
you can play ogre intelectualist, but is it wise decision? i doubt it.
In Tolkien's books elves were excellent fighters, but they arent in the Genesis.

In ff11 we had some strict race stats like a taru taru made greater caster but their stats sucked fir mele tanking but I saw great melee and great tanks who was said race, and did well.

Some people prefer the challenges the race weaknesses give.

Slight exaggeration there?:) You can obviously be an elf and a decent fighter. Especially if your layman guild uses spells that require some int and wis.
