Jokes aside, there are at least 2 forges open - much smaller though (and not sure if they sell components). One in Terel, one in Gondor.
You can use both to mend weapons/armours.

I actually wanna forge stuff so materials are quite required. I didn't know there was another forge setup in ME, weird. Will check it out.

There's a nice one in Cadu where you can forge in peace, materials are sold right there, and basically no one visits.

I did use that in peace and then thought there might be times my presence disables someone or vice versa single it's a single forge. However, if I walk up and see someone else I can certainly try elsewhere or do something else with my time so it's ok!
