This is what I was greeted to as I logged on, can we make ntell not work at all untill after like... I dont know 4 hours of gametime? And limit it to one line per 30 secs? Might wanna limit the number of letters aswell so that asshats dont toss big ass walls of text.

And whoever keeps giving out the game IP to theese assmonkeys... you suck, seriously

There will be some improvements to the pin.
For now, remove it when there is spam when noone is around to zap the troublemakers.

Chill Draugor, it's the class again. That someone has decided to use Genesis in their teaching is imho a good thing. And kids will be kids. Always.

And we cant refuse newbies the ntell for 4 hours, it's most likely during those 4 hours they need it the most. Personally I dislike those anti spam fliters as well, as it often makes normal communication much harder too. Unless you make a clever one that actually detects spam and not normal conversations. Luckily we have some clever wizards who might be able to pull that off...:) I dont really think this will be a long term issue though. Those spammers will tire soon I would guess, and once the teacher stops forcing them I doubt they'll return.

Ban the goddamn site then :P

ANd a filter is good, cant write the same dumbass shit over and over, that should result in a dissconnect

Like I said, if done right a spam filter might be useful.

Since promotion is my responsibility I fully support using Genesis for english class in a school, and I am very much against even thinking of banning sites who does that. Perhaps if the word spreads from teacher to another teacher, the next class will be of another type, and some might actually stay. And who knows, maybe some of these also stays? Just because some people in that group spam and think they're so funny, doesn't mean all of them are the same.

And telling people who promote Genesis that they "suck" is... well... just dont.

Spread the word all you can. Everywhere. It's the only way. It might lead to some not so serious new players here and there, but eventually a few will stay and like it too.

Just put a "cooldown" for several seconds on ntell command. Like 10-30 seconds. In any case, any one needs some second to type question or answer and no time to hit enter for spam.

At least a 5 second cool down or a detector to tell if the same command is repeated would be good. From the perspective a teacher, I think it's great someone is using Genesis for a class but I would be somewhat disappointed that they couldn't get a good experience BECAUSE of the spamming.

Good point. I am convinced now, a (smart) spam detector is probably a good thing.

Don't know what is simplest, but a couple of suggestions.

Newbiehelpers can mute newbies in channel, for login/period/something

1 second dealy before using ntell again, standard. Fixes most repeat spam and doesnt annoy long conversations, only small talks on seperate lines.

newbiehelper can kick people >2 hours old, or disable them(no commands)

ermmm, had a thought or two more but they flew away.

I never said these were good options, just they were options. Easiness of implementing the coding does have a lot to say, and i don't know the code (what little i did, i forgot sadly)

That's a lot of players, we can live with the spam if one or two from each batch continue to play.

Also I'm not a newbie helper :p
