Grinding areas for new players

Post by Cherek » 15 Feb 2015 17:24

We're looking into making some of our current grinding / money areas for greenhorne-wanderer players more easily accessible for them. First question is however which areas do we have that are good for them?

- Orc Fortress in Sparkle.
- Kobolds in Town of Last in Terel.
- Small Orc Camp outside Frogmorton i Bree.

Then... hmm... what else do we have?

- Kretans/Argo guards in Calia
- The Orc Towers in Sparkle off the road (different from fortress)
- Mini goblins near Corner Stone in Terel (not many, but small)
- Hobbits in Bree
- Gibberers near Faerie
- Kender in Kendermore (if you're a jerk)
- Undeads underneath Flotsam (can't remember exactly how big they are, but remember them being small)

Probably others, just not sure...haven't been a greenhorne-wanderer in a long time :)

I think there is some new area in Avenir in the Utterdark that Lucius had coded.
I don't know how small it is .. or how to get into it though.
The door is locked.
If something I wrote sounds confusing ... assume you misunderstood it.

Yeah... :/
I don't even know how to get into it.
I've tried with Kit but failed to find the key .. I thought maybe it is only accessible to smaller players.
I know there are hobgoblins in it though .. at least that what I was told.
But I kinda doubt that someone new would be able to find it easily.

Wanderer can easily go through there, as far as I remember, so it is for smaller players.
Also the magic map says "newbie area".
No key neeed just unlock the door.
Un/fortunately they are not neutral, but rather good, so killing more then a couple will quickly make you very evil.

Evil is good.

For newbie grinding I suggest krougs, cadu castle, hobbits, kobolds, and gont tower. It should get them up pretty quickly.

Gont tower?

Not likely.

They hit like a truck even at Rising Hero.

I am talking mainly people fresh out of tutorial lands, and wanderer at most. Most will probably be greenhorne/beginner size.

Gont is way out of the question, krougs as well. Unless you mean water krougs? They're perhaps not as dangerous as the main kroug area? I am really no kroug expert..

Hobbits and Kenders are pretty tough too, I'd have to confirm it but I doubt even a wanderer can handle them? Anyone tried them recently with a tiny char and can confirm how tough they are?

Anything in Utterdark I think simply is too complicated and confusing as a "my first grinding place".

Undeads in Flotsam might work, but it's also not exactly easy to get to.

Cadu Castle... very small area, and.. strange...:)

Gibberers definitely make the list I think. I had forgotten about those.

We sure have to struggle to think of half decent areas though... Any wannabe wizards who would like to throw together a few more areas near Sparkle?:)
