You may feel like you want to be the smartest goblin wizard of all time - but that might just mean someone who is actually about as smart as a fairly dull elf. ;-)

Similar with a hobbit. Yeah, a hobbit might imagine themselves a FANTASTIC warrior. But a hobbit truly can only be so big and strong. No, they will never be equal to the strongest dwarf or goblin warrior, I don't care how they want to roleplay it.

So ... no.

In all fairness goblins are little sissies :P You're thinking of Uruks considering the batshit stats they have today :P If anything, make more stats usefull in regular combat, atm its all str since all specials are based on it and its also what seems to dictate white damage. Hell is dex even a stat anymore? Intelligence should have a big part of combat aswell.

Well Goblins arent big strong warriors either, never have been in just about any fantasy setting let alone the ones we have in game. They are quick and cowardly little creatures that generally get a -str debuff, but in the Genesis world they are an Orc/Troll 10 ft tall powerhouse mix. If were going to go by true roleplay standards of races then you're going to have a lot of pissed off people because that would mean only Dwarves get +Str. Humans are always average, Elves never get a +str boost unless they are a subclass, Goblins "Always" get a -Str Debuff as do Hobbits/Halflings, Gnomes are actually hardier than Goblins/Hobbits... I mean I can go on and on with this and point out the inconsistencies of normal DnD, Faerun, ME, Dragonlance races compared to what we use now. So your Warrior Races would basically be Dwarves/Humans.

Or we accept that because Genesis has a wide variety of realms and many different versions of races in their lore such as a Krynn Gnome compared to a Calian Gnome compared to a Sybarus Gnome that people should be able to control their character rather than be stat locked. I mean ffs a hobbit can solo a dragon in the game, the idea that Frodo is going to gear up and slay a dragon by himself is already eyerolling... trying to be realistic after understanding that just seems a bit weird.

Hmm, something does smell fishy, I like fish though. It seems like something is being done... by committee! Oh no! Stop em Mr. Greneth! Keep it Mr. Keeper! Before they go a collage everything into some Cronenberg nightmare!

Wait, sniff sniff, I guess that is why I play this game, hmm.

Maybe we should give Arman more work, hehehe.

Tell him to make a guild for each domain that allows you to become lore-specific for your race, like greneth's Calian gnome. All we need is Arman to code it, MuuhahahahahahaaaaHA (cough) HA!

Edit: this could all be fixed though by giving anyone who is not satisfied with their stats the "option" of becoming a vampire, forcibly.

The pale drawn male vampire introduces himself as:
Sibbie, the Night King, Father of the Undead, and punisher of little babies, the you kind, lord vampire.
Scars open and close, writhing across his skin.
He works for the immortals even as he is one.
He looks extra gaunt today, probably because he's hungry.
He has come to eat you.
G sent him.
He has garlic tied around his waist so don't try it.
He is pondering what you taste like.

Sure, make vamps, you'll take crazy damage in light and I will be carrying 50 lamps at all times and they will be lit :)

"Goblins" are what Tolkien called the Orcs whom Thorin and Company encountered in The Hobbit. They lived deep under the Misty Mountains in many strongholds, ever since the War of Wrath in the First Age. Tolkien described them as big, ugly creatures, "cruel, wicked, and bad-hearted." Tolkien explained in a note at the start of The Hobbit that he was using English to represent the languages used by the characters, and that goblin (or hobgoblin for the larger kind) was the English translation he was using for the word Orc, which (he wrote) is the hobbits' form of the name for them. Tolkien used the term goblin extensively in The Hobbit, and also occasionally in The Lord of the Rings, as when the Uruk-hai of Isengard are first described: "four goblin-soldiers of greater stature".

You just opened up the can of worms now. (One of the more popular debates this one is with the Tolkien setting :D)

Tolkien originally had goblins and orcs as completely different races there was a clear definition in the Tale of Tinuviel but in Turambar he made them the same. Even Gandalf can be quoted saying: "Before you could get round Mirkwood in the North you would be right among the slopes of the Grey Mountains, and they are simply stiff with goblins, hobgoblins, and orcs of the worst description." Goblins were the weak little creatures that scaled walls and couldn't come out during the day. Hogoblins were the mini bosses and Orcs (Uruk-hai) the bosses.

His stance and usage of goblin vs orc has changed so much even when directly asked about it over the years but it comes down to this. His inspiration for the Orc came from the need of an evil warrior that could be mowed down. So he drew from the book "The Princess and the Goblin" in which the goblin is your standard weak ass goblin and from Beowulf he took the name Orcneas which roughly translates to monster and shortened/changed it to Ork. Now because he couldn't just have a ton of weaklings he created subclasses, such as the Orcs and the subclasses of Orcs, Uruk-hai. They all get called goblins because of where inspiration was drawn from and Tolkien is lazy. But make no mistake, his first version of the Goblin was your normal run of the mill.
