Invis shouldn't benefit stealing. Every failed attempt should end up with me catching the bastard and having him for 10-15 seconds just for myself.
Why shouldn't invisibility benefit stealing? In my mind it is thematically perfect for it.

The two things that need to change are stealing when invisible can't be risk free, and there need to be more invisibility counters. The former is being addressed. The latter will come, now there is a clear player need :)

Easy to fix.
Pop out of invis when stealing.

Stealing successfully while invis: Not really a problem.
Spamstealing while failing 99/100 times without reveal - gigantic problem.
You win at stealing: Good boy
You fail at stealing: Invis broken. (Preferably with sticky situation for head smashing)

It's THAT simple.

Not the invisibility we have right now. It's uncounterable.

This please. Sticky fingers should end up with sticky situation. Think twice before you're trying to steal from someone much bigger. Shouldn't be only when stealing from invis, same should apply to stealing from sneak.

Would the backhand be automatic? I would think it would depend somewhat on level differences or SOMETHING? Or else stealing becomes a death-trap?

Skill/stat challenge perhaps? Their Dex vs your Dex?

Just dropping invisibility would, in my opinion, be enough.

Curious, will stealth finally be debugged so it's not possible to sneak away from combat as well?
