Not too long ago, I noticed that I had darkvision but shouldn't have - no imbues or other special items being worn, no relevant spells active. (I submitted a bug report when I noticed it.) Also pretty recently, another player told me for a long time she thought she had permanent darkvision due to her race (she shouldn't have - her racial guild does not provide it). I think her issue and mine stem from some kind of bug with the way darkvision works. Last night I was wearing an item that gives darkvison, but I couldn't see through even a single level of darkness. The issue happens, *I think*, when darkvision items are worn and removed multiple times on a single log-in. Quitting and re-logging fixed it last night. Has any one else experienced this kind of thing, or know how to prevent it?

This sounds like a case where a bug report is not enough, and you should probably "mail aop" as well.

Sometimes when you have two sources of darkvision active at one, even after they fade out, you still have nightvision.
The bug has been several times reported! And also mailed to aop.
The other way is more serious, if your dv doesn't work, just mail aop.

I am sure this is a new occurance and no one has ever used this to their benefit or to the detriment of another player.

Sylphan is drow. Drow should have dv but don't; they have a light spell instead. It is a cool light spell, but not as cool as dv. The friend is half-elf, human base. I thought she was Eil Galaith, but now I think about it, maybe Palanthas?

Since you've opened this topic up: Could Krynn racial guilds provide... something? From what I've read/heard, we only get a surname there.

Urban legends say Krynn racials get ... infravision? ... but I doubt it.

Infravision, not to be confused with darkvision.
Infravision does nothing for your ability to fight in darkness.
More like just an extra automatic "emote"
