A wooden stick.
Long long ago, in ReAlbi, which back then was one of THE hubs of Genesis, there was a little boy throwing sticks to his dog.
He is probably still there in the streets of Cadu.
I write probably as today, deep in the mines of Khazad Dum, I saw the stick lying on the floor.
Back to ReAlbi, the little wooden stick the boy threw could be used at players.
Experienced players used to hold it in front of newbies, threw it north, and called 'fetch', and the newbie was forced north after the stick to the laughter of the experienced players.
Then someone figured out that you could use that trick to 'fool' the protected store rooms in a shop.
Hold stick, throw stick north (into the store room), -:"fetch" and the throwers buddy was moved into the store room, where he took everything in the shop and went out again to resell.
Unlimited money. And money back then was a troublesome bottleneck.
So why was the stick in Khazad Dum? Well my guess is that someone tried the old trick at the Uruk, to get inside his treasure chamber without a fight.
Quite funny to recall the stick and long lost days.
