Thread on Guild entry

Greetings All,

It has been interesting to read the responses to the note I posted with the
idea of changing protocol for Guild entry.

I feel now that perhaps my note was a bit too casually written and somewhat
unclear as to what I was trying to convey.

What I really meant to bring forth was the topic of long-time sleepers at
key-positions.

Something to ponder -

Let us say, that joining the Mercs is an easy task, reaching the required title
and then asking Maligant. The entry is NPC ruled and facilitates for someone
not so familiar with the game easy access. Little, or no roleplaying is
required. The entry does not require active players and if a whole player
population of Mercs for some reason would leave the game at once, the new
players to the game would not suffer in terms of access.

Let us say that joining the Rangers is hard. One applies and as Tharizdun tells
goes through quite an ordeal to become accepted. Let us say that it takes years
of dedication and devotion to become a Ranger. And if for some reason a whole
population of Rangers would leave the game at once..it would prove a bit more
difficult to join the Rangers. Not due to lack of roleplaying or need of such,
but due to gameplay frailty.

Wrach was right though, my note sprung out of the frustration of not being able
to join a guild of my choice. Perhaps not due to roleplaying issues or not
being able to communicate with other players/characters, but due to absent
guild leaders.

Beregond is one of old, once travelling these lands as a Ranger and Hero. Upon
his return he was lost, wandering aimlessly until he found himself on the
doorsteps of his bloodline. He felt the strong familiarity of his ancestry and
knew then that he must restore what was lost, fill the empty Halls of his kin,
and once again bring greatness to the House of Belecthor, and the descendents
of Numenor. This was to become his sole purpose and goal.

Gameplay-wise a bit hard since the boards in the Guild were not updated and the
Lady of the house absent. Thus, the thought was born...

So, I still adhere to my intent. NPC governed entry into Guilds, so that
'entry' into a guild in itself becomes fail-safe. The rest, with roleplaying
and guild culture, I do not intend to stir.

Kindly,
Beregond's
