Code: Select all
Disaster has struck!!!! Sinister thieves have managed to skip the
Thanksgiving turkeys and have struck the Christmas Kitchen of the
Genesis Admin! They've raided the kitchen and stolen not only our
Christmas ham, but also the wood chips that we were going to use
to smoke the ham!!! In order to help recover the stolen items, the
AoE team is again distributing separate rune stones of ham and
wood chips detection to all who are willing to help. Each stone is
tuned only to find ham or chips, but not both.
You will find these detecting stones in the common rooms. Each
stone will be tuned to a few items at a time. You should <choose>
a target to hone in on, and <activate> the stone. If the stone detects
the item nearby, it'll help you find it! Note that you can only have
one type of stone throughout the event, and cannot switch.
We also need some help to smoke the hams, and they must be
done quickly after finding them. If you find wood chips, you
can <offer> the chips to someone with hams to have it
be smoked. If you are made such an offer, make sure you only
<accept> the offer from those you trust. You never know if
they are a sinister ham thief themselves! Work together as
a ham/chips team to smoke the most hams.
Finally, there are special arch pigs running around that
can't be found by the stones. Try not to <poke> them or disturb
them too much, or they may get angry. Collect the whole set
of arch pigs for special bonuses.
The event will run in two phases over two weeks until January 8,
21.00h game time. A description of the two phases will be below.
First Phase
-----------
There will be different types of hams and chips, some
more rare than others. Rarer items are worth more points. Smoked
hams are worth even more points. You can only smoke hams with
its appropriate type of chips. The major goal of the first phase
will be to gather as many points as possible. Points will be given for
finding and collecting the stolen items before others get to them.
The sinister thieves have gotten wind of this event, however, and
may throw in some fake items. Be on the watchout for them! Your
score will be remembered when you leave the game, and if you enter
the game once more you will be able to continue your search. However,
the hams and chips you can use to smoke will only be valid for the
current session. If you log out, it resets!
Second Phase
------------
The second phase/week will also have the points component. All points
will be reset when this second phase begins. Instead of simply earning
points, there will be achievements to be gained. Things like working
together, collecting quickly or achieving certain point thresholds
will gain you achievements. This will be a test for a broader
implementation of achievements in the game.
The winners and runner ups will be announced and rewarded
in due time.

This event was made possible thanks to the generosity

Merry Christmas from the Event Team of Genesis!

Petros: Nice!
Now... the big question. Spend the holidays with your family, or spend it hunting christmas pigs...

Question 1:
Will arch turkeys also "reset" after the first week?
Question 2:
Would it be reasonably possible to stop hams and chips from appearing inside guild halls? It seems to happen fairly regularly, and unless someone from the right guild happens to find them, which is unlikely, they'll just lay there for quite some time and "block" other hams and chips form appearing. And of course its quite annoying as well...
I get that it maybe is very hard to do, but if its not THAT hard, it would make it more enjoyable.

What is the nature of the reward (rewarded a little, etc)? GXP?

Good question. I just assumed the first phase of the event was the regular QXP rewards and titles that we've always had on events in the past. But nobody really said that...
Phase 2 I guess we'll see?

For #1 - Everything will reset after the first week.
For #2 - It is fairly difficult to do. Report the bad target if you can't access it and move on.

1: Ok. Followup-question: Exactly when will week 1 reset? Tuesday at 21:00?
2: Ok, yup, thats what I do.
