Player killing rules updated

Code: Select all

Greetings,

I have made a small change to the rules about player
killing. Please check "help rules" to make sure you do
not happen to break them by without knowing.

So what's changed you ask?

I simply removed the "repeatedly" part when it comes
to killing very small players. So from now on, killing
a newbie, even just once, without any sort of provocation
is not allowed. And doing it because you mistook them for
an NPC or while on a script is no longer an excuse either,
as we now have a coded safety for that. Should you still
happen kill a newbie by mistake, I suggest trying to contact
the victim in question and find a way to be forgiven, before
it becomes something I need to look into. I'd much rather
spend my time helping players than punishing players.

So in short, if you're gonna kill the completely defenceless
you better have a good reason!

Won't the ! needed to kill a player be enough so that the script won't accidentally kill someone?

Yes, like I said in the note, we now have a safety that would prevent that from happening. I was referring to the "!". So you can't really use that as an excuse if you accidentally kill a newbie for no reason.

There are griefers in every game when there is a boost in players sometimes griefers show up as well. Its not just attacking people by accident. somone has been putting wepons in the donation box that damage or kill little players. (snake whip). a few weeks ago domone payed a newbie to kill another newbie.

We have a lot of true new players now so it is probly wise to be a bit stricter than in the past when it comes to griefing. before whem most new players were alts they could recover better than somone brand new who is just as likly to ragequit as to complain.

Well if hes trying to attack you etc... did you indicate you're not an NPC? :P

A guide for what items not to pick up for newbies should be helpful.... like hints for certain herbs that should not be eaten.....
dying to lack of experience in the game does not sound nice.

or maybe at least for wepons a you dont have the disipline to use this might be good.

no newbies should just be eating/quaffing random things they find on the floor

How about a filter on the donation boxes, any weapon that is dangerous to the young ones (snake whip, BSA, corrupted weapons etc) gets filtered through a nifty device, returning a weapon of "exceptional quality" of the same class (club/sword/axe etc) which is awesome for a newbie, but then again, can't be wielded by anyone with higher stats than "able to get out of donation box + X %". That way, people can still donate such stuff, but not kill newbies and get screwed over if they do it just to preserve an item ;)

If a puddle of blood starts to form around the donation box perhaps we need to think of some type of filter yes. It's been working fine a long time though, so let's see if perhaps this simply was an isolated incident before we change too much.
