Botting Rules Updated

Post by Cherek » 07 May 2015 20:53

Code: Select all

This note is to inform you that the rules about botting
have been updated. Please check <help botting> before
you do anything else today. "But I did not know the
rules!" will not be an accepted excuse if I catch your
breaking the rules.

These are the main changes:

- All punishments have been changed. 1st offense will
always lead to a warning, and the hardest punishment
is all combat XP removed, no death recovery.

- Idle botting has been clarified with a time limit.

- Increased frequency of bot checks.

- We will use different ways to check for bots but all are
easy to detect for someone at the screen. So in other
words, do NOT rely on your alarm triggers to alert you
of the captcha bot test. Rely on your own eyes instead.

NOTE:
Everyone will be given a clean slate and a final chance
to play legally. So, anyone caught will be considered a
first time offender, regardless of your previous history.
I would strongly urge you to take this chance and stop
botting, because losing your combat XP without recovery
will NOT be fun.

Also note, we will also check for bots more frequently
than before and follow these rules to the point. If you're
caught botting, you'll be punished accordingly, and
everyone will be treated exactly the same.

Please let me know if you find anything unclear.

Cherek, Arch of Players

Hope those tests are also visible on telephone screens in combat spam.

If you actually look at the phone you will be fine. *wink*

I thought this is about Cherek/Mirandus "proving" to me that I do not.

Yes Laurel, this clarification and changes to the rules are a plot against you, and you alone.

I for one welcome these changes, good work wizards!

Are you willing to detail the punishments that lie between 'warning' and 'all combat exp removed'?

As long as the tests and punishment are equal for everyone I have nothing to object.

Yup, they're listed there. For combat botting it's first a warning, second time half your CXP removed, and if you get caught three times or more you'll get all CXP removed each time in eternity.

Yeah it should be very obvious on any screen. And if the captcha thing looks weird on phone, just commune instead.
