Bring out the pumpkins!
Its time for the:
Eleventh Genesis All Hallows Eve Scavenger Hunt
(Ilrahil vs the World Special Edition)
When?
=======================================================================
The scavenger hunt lasts ONE week (7 days), starting 23:00 game time
on Sunday 1 November, ending 23:00 on Sunday 8 November.
Items that are submitted outside this time slot will not count toward
the hunt.
Whats a Scavenger hunt?
=======================================================================
In a scavenger hunt players compete to find items on a list. The list
will be posted when the event starts and contains a total of 150 items.
100 items exist somewhere in the realms, while 50 are created
specifically for the event and will appear in random rooms for the
duration of the event. The goal is to find as many different items as
possible, and players may compete alone and/or in a team with other
players. Scoring is simple, the contestant who has found the most items
when the event ends wins.
What are the rewards for the event?

Players will compete in two categories. One for players between novice
and veteran, and one for experts and above. Your mortal size when you
turn in your first item will decide which category you compete in.
Should a big player decide to go suicidal on purpose in order to
compete in the smaller category they will be disqualified from the
event.
The Individual Competition
--------------------------
The top 10 players in each category will be awarded Quest Experience,
with the most to the winner and the least amount to the player
who finishes in 10th place.
In addition, the winner in each category will receieve a BIG mystery
reward as well as a special title that will last for a year.
Places 2-3 will each receieve a MEDIUM mystery reward.
Places 4-5 will each receive a SMALL mystery reward.
Also, ALL players who partiticpate will receive general experience
for each unique submission, and for every 25 items found by a player
a special special quest experience bonus will be granted.
Players who are the only one to find a specific item will also
receive a bonus reward.
The Team Competition

The members of the top 5 teams will be rewarded Quest Experience.
In addition each member of the winning team will receive
one glittering imbue of their choice, as well as a special title
that will last for a year. (If a member of the winning team also
wins the induvidual competition, only one title will be awarded).
So what are those mystery rewards? Well, its a mystery of course! But
to give you a hint it will be some sort of valuable and unique
equipment specifically designed to be useful for the players who wins
them.
The AoE team may also give out other bonus rewards and/or titles for
achievements during the event that we feel are worthy of an extra
reward.
What are the rules for the Scavenger Hunt?

The objective is to collect as many different items from the scavenger
hunt list as you can find. All items are possible to find, and no
items are located inside guilds. However, all players may not be able
to find all items on their own due to player size, align, racial
restrictions and similar, so trading/scheming/stealing etc is
encouraged.
50 items were newly created and brought into the world solely for the
scavenger hunt. So if you think you knew which items were the random
ones based on previous events, think again! Which items are existing
in the realm and which are newly created is for the participants to
figure out. Exploring may pay off.
The list will be revealed when the scavenger hunt starts. It can be
listed at the pumpkins in the common board rooms.
Scavengers may work individually AND in teams. Teams are to register at
the pumpkins in the common board rooms. This may be done at any time
during the hunt. To form a group, the group leader has to go to one of
the pumpkins near the common boards, and do "group invite <person>".
The invited person(s) can then accept this invitation with "group join
<group leader name>". Please note that when you have joined a group, it
is not possible to leave the group to switch to another group. The
maximum group size is 4 players.
When calculating group score both the number of average items per group
member AND the total number of different items as a group will be
used to find a winner.
Items count toward the team total, as well as toward the individual's
total. So you can be in a team and in the individual contest at the
same time.
Per person, only one of each item will count. Submitting more than one
specimen will not increase any score.
Items must be brought to the pumpkin receptacles at the common boards,
so that items turned in are credited to the proper team and individual.
The pumpkins are not trash cans, so do not indiscriminately dump items
that do not match the description. A person who overflows the pumpkin
on purpose may be penalized.
The costume shop in the Mvsevm of Events will be open for business
while the scavenger hunt lasts. Don't forget to dress up!
For your convenience, during the event:
"help scavenger_event" will give this text at any time.
"help scavenger_list" will give you the list of items.
DISCLAIMER:
On a donut as large as Genesis, it may occasionally happen that an item
is not accepted even though upon casual inspection it looks exactly
like the description on the list. The AoE office is quite certain that
the list does not contain typos, so if this happens it means that there
is another item with exactly the same name elsewhere in the realms. So
if an item is not accepted, even if it looks like it should, you need
to find another item with the same description somewhere else in the
realms. However, pay close attention to the descriptions. There is a
difference between a grAy mouse and a grEy one.
This all sounds familiar, so whats new with this special edition?

As many of you know the player Ilrahil is kind of a legend when it
comes to events, and Scavenger hunts in particular. So, instead of him
being a big favorite to win, I asked him to create the list of items
instead. Naturally the drawback for Ilrahil is that he will NOT be able
participate in the Scavenger Hunt himself, so instead he will be
rewarded for any items on the list that remain undiscovered when the
event ends.
Specifically:
If 5 or more items remain undiscovered Ilrahil is awarded the same
prize as the winner of the event.
If 3-4 items remain undiscovered Ilrahil is awarded the same prize as
the player who finishes in second place in the event.
If 1-2 items remain undiscovered Ilrahil is awarded the same prize as
the player who finishes in third place in the event.
If no items remain undiscovered Ilrahil is awarded the same prize as
the player who finishes in 10th place in the event.
Ilrahil is not allowed to speak about the items on the list, give
hints, or try to trick people. If he does, all his rewards are void,
so theres no use in trying to bribe him to talk! Besides, his
rewards are determined on you NOT finding all items. And he thinks
you wont be able to. Can you prove him wrong?
