Logically that probably makes the most sense, however if we relocate the starting point to the inn we end up with the same problem that made us change this...? That is, tons of players standing in the start location chatting away about RL stuff and giving new players who first enter the real world a strange first impression of the game? So basically, that would mean back to square one, and all we did was to switch names on the room you start in.:)
But to a more fitting location, where chatter is expected. Alternatively, they could spawn in an instanced "room" at the inn, upstairs, with acts as a silent start, with only exit down, where the rest stand and chatter.

In my opinion, it's better that new players log into a place where there are players, chatting irl or not, rather than be met with silence and solitude. The first may break some immersion, but it also helps nitting bonds and player connections, which is probably more important at the start of the game where you are not yet connected, or hooked to.

Also, better to have a crowded inn with additional support for sitting down, order food etc and other random stuff happening rather than a semi-useess church. My opinion ofcourse.

I agree with Kas.

Kas is right. The reason the Church was a popular place is that it is where new people could meet others easily.

I like the idea of making a start room above where the chatter is, both sides win.

I like it too. Of course this isn't my decision, but to me it does sound like something like that would keep the good things about having a place where people meet and chat, while still keep the starting location "clean". I too like that new players see other players active in the game from the start, but it also sometimes turned into chaotic IRL spam for an already confused player just entering the real game. And there is RP in Genesis too, and the chatroom start to the game perhaps gave many the impression that the whole game is one big IRL chat, which might scare away potential RP'ers looking for something more? Kas suggestion would (at least theoretically) solve both problems, as you don't suffer the spam when you log in, but you can stay and chat below, in the common room of the inn, if you want to. Sounds good to me.

I have alerted Gorboth, Arman and Lucius about this idea. In the end it's mainly up to them to decide this I believe.

I too like Kas's idea. The instanced room could have a sign preparing the newbie for what sorts of things she might find just downstairs, in terms of interactablilty (a bar to belly up to, can't go back upstairs without renting a room, or whatever) and the kinds of chatting that are likely going on. Or maybe that info could be another chapter in the tutorial, right near the end.

Though I think this is a really good idea, the town crier stands right outside the Church ready to greet and give quests to newcomers to Sparkle.

I would probably plaster the most obvious newbiequests on a bulletin board (examinable) at the inn, and maybe some drawn (roughly) maps of Sparkle's nearby geography and obvious "next to go" locaions for newbies, such as Calia for example.

Should give newbies a heads start on early Genesis gamecontent. And, a poster or two about newbiefriendly starterguilds (recruitment posters with easy directions). Hook, line and sinker.

Yeah and if the grub quest and beggars' club quests still remain exclusive to small people, a really prominant note explaining that would be good.
