                  TRICK-OR-TREAT 2021 EVENT RESULTS !!!!
---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---
---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---

Hello everyone!

Well, the event is over, and I am very pleased to be able to bring you (far
more quickly than last year) the results, winners, and prizes!

Also improved from last year was my ability to get the event rolling on
schedule, so that trick or treating lead up to Halloween, and concluded on
midnight the following day. In the netherworld we all take a day or two to
get the candy and costumes fully out of our systems too, right? (or are
you like some annoying family members I know and eat your candy slowly over
a course of MONTHS??!)

In the end, we had 164 participants (six more than last year) participants,
seven of whom have qualified for top-of-the leaderboard prizes with their
good scoring. Nearly everyone who entered the event took the time to earn
quite a bit of little-by-little quest experience for themselves. Those who
took full advantage of this ended up with around the same qxp as you might
get from doing a lower-mid-sized domain quest, or around 15 Wednesday Market
Quests. Worthwhile!

Oh, and guess what - the event was not stained by a single instance of
cheating! This is also an improvement from last year's 5 disqualifications.
Way to go, people! Cheating is for chumps, and you guys are now all my
best friends forever. Woohoo!!!

My favorite thing about this event is that you were able to choose, honestly
or otherwise, who you felt deserved top ratings in this event yourselves, as
players voting for players. So ... these results are the final opinions of
your peers deciding who had the best costumes and candies!

There was a rather significant advantage of sorts given to players who were
able to begin the event immediately, and thus choose the most traffic-friendly
booth locations. But ... such is life. Early bird gets the worm, and all
that. In the end, it actually didn't mean you won, it just meant you got a
lot of points from that aspect. The winners really did have to rely on the
opinion points, which constituted by far the bulk of affairs.

Alright ... let's get down to business. There was a *lot* to suss out here
in terms of who performed well. A lot of it was just plain fun to see, and
didn't really have anything to do with winners and losers. So, first lets
start with categories in which people performed well, but that didn't really
matter in terms of event prizes or anything. The reward here is just to get
some recognition for stuff. Nice going!

No prizes in these categories. Just ... fun stuff to see!

=================================
TRICK-OR-TREATED AT OTHER BOOTHS
=================================

The first category is the number of booths that each contestant was
able to successfully find and <trickortreat>. The total number of
available booths other than your own was 164.

    TOP PERFORMERS! (got 'em all!? Nope, no one did ...)

       Montagu:   162
       Gortag:    156
       Hannabeth: 153
       Chanele:   153

    RUNNERS UP:

    1. Hildigunnr:152
       Bocephus:  152
       Logg:      152

    2. Zelaya:    151
       Raelle:    151

Pretty impressive! This ended up being kind of like a little mini player-
generated quest. I love that. Some people really did hide their booths, but
we'll look at some of those later. Those of you who created, and never
restocked, or maybe never even stocked your booth one single time??! Well,
the ghosts on Halloween usually say it, but to you guys everyone who tried
to visit your booth says, all together now: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

(note: I probably will change this aspect of the event in any future years
that it gets used. It ended up being the least fun and most frustrating
aspect of the event, which otherwise really does give you the ability to
manage your own fate as best you are able.)

=================================
GOT TRICK-OR-TREATED
=================================

Here, we look at the players who had the most people successfully find and
<trickortreat> at their booth. Now, they did have to make sure they were
on top of restocking the candy, so it did require at least a bit of upkeep
on that issue. Even so, this list is mostly populated with our early event
entry participants who were able to claim prime locations.

    TOP PERFORMER!

       Hannabeth: 150 (location: Main street inside Sparkle Gate)

    RUNNERS UP:

    1. Danec: 142 (location: South of Sparkle Church)
    2. Taro: 141 (location: Market Square, outside the AH tent)
    3. Straag: 140 (location: North of the Tower of Realms)
       Mercer: 140 (location: East of the Village Green)
    4. Riva: 138 (location: South of the Enchanter)
    5. Stryder: 137 (location: East of the MVSEVM)
       Baz: 137 (location: Crossroad outside Sparkle)

Also ... some of you have been perhaps wanting to know who the people were
who NEVER RESTOCKED THEIR BOOTHS?? Oh, these people ... ohhhhhhhh ....
Well, first let's start with the worst offenders, who set their booth up,
but then didn't even bother to fill it even once! They just walked away
and left the entire game hanging. Oh, the humanity!!!

Congratulations to: Zhabou and Yaeru. (Alignment: Damned)

And what about those folks who did set up their booth properly, put their
meticulous candy creations in their basket for all the excited trick-or-
treaters, and then NEVER FILLED IT AGAIN??

Congratulations to: Sega, Syrk, Nauthira, Angerboda, Gerey, Wat, Marsh,
                    Manowar, Galactica, Ohlia, Ysmir, Lyraethe,
                    Kalameet, Jerbus, Aelin, and Unroch.

Okay, so let's actually talk about people who did restock, but whose
booths must have been cleverly hidden? These folks had the fewest people
who could actually find their booths to trick-or-treat them! (And, they
probably also didn't do a great job restocking all that often.)

    Joy: (A large fountain in the center of Green Oaks)
    Drey: (Just west of the Pen Sea peninsula in the moors)
    Sarafine: (Beside Gnimpsh in the Abandoned Merc camp)
    Nania:      (The bank in Dwarfheim)
    Helwraith: (Far southeast end of the Faerie graveyard)
    Decimia: (Bridge at the entrance to the moors)
    Candy: (Inside the southern entrance of the Faerie Orc Camp)
    Saphira: (Librarian's office on the 2nd floor of the Library)
    Velan: (Beside the waterfall in northern Sparkle wilds)

=================================
TOP-PICK CANDY WINNERS:
=================================

Okay ... let's move on to content-based categories ...

We'll start with people who had the most votes for top-pick candy of the
entire event, and get a look at what they actually were ...

    TOP PERFORMER!

       Hannabeth: 11 (bourbon-flavoured suckers stuffed with mithril)

Golly ... alcohol for the win, and ... metal?! Party on, Garth.

    RUNNERS UP:

    1. Nailo: 6 (bourbon-flavoured brownies slathered with chocolate)
    2. Ergeba:    5  (caramel-flavoured baklava with layers of maple-syrup)
       Stryder: 4 (bourbon-flavoured caramels covered with chocolate)
    3. Emelie:    4  (grapefruit-flavoured gummy-worms sprinkled with glitter)
    4. Nagash: 3 (jalapeno-flavoured eclairs encased in mithril)
       Penelope: 3 (coffee-flavoured toffees dipped in chocolate)
       Aster: 3 (eggnog-flavoured cookies baked in cinnamon)
       Avo:       3  (pizza-flavoured cotton-candy rolled in blood)

Well, I am not sure why these are top-picks, honestly. The next group is
far yummier and funnier in my own opinion. But! Democracy! You all have
spoken, and the event has tallied your terrible choices! I kid. Kinda.

=================================
CANDY SORTED AS FAVORITES:
=================================

Now let's see whose candy was most frequently sorted by players to be one
of their favorites.

    TOP PERFORMER!

       Stryder: 62 (bourbon-flavoured caramels covered with chocolate)

    RUNNERS UP:

    1. Ergeba:    45  (caramel-flavoured baklava with layers of maple-syrup)
    2. Goldbezie: 41  (chocolate-flavoured rum-balls sprinkled with cinnamon)
    3. Gortag: 40 (raspberry-flavoured eclairs coated with chocolate)
    4. Chipper:   39  (strawberry-flavoured wafers sprinkled with lemon-dust)
    5. Nailo: 38 (bourbon-flavoured brownies slathered with chocolate)
    6. Diri: 37 (caramel-flavoured butterscotch dipped in chocolate)

These are all just ... totally delicious ... bourbon, caramel and chocolate
seem to be on many minds. I wondered if people would vote more for things
that actually sounded yummy, or for things that were hilariously terrible.
Well ... let's look at the next category!

=================================
MOST DISLIKED CANDIES!!!
=================================

Okay ... this is a bit of schadenfreude, but it is just so dang interesting
to see who had the *least* popular candies, and what they were! Hee hee ...
No prizes here, of course, but ... well ... perhaps a few grins.

These people had the most "dumb or boring" sorts for their candy:

    BOTTOM PERFORMER!?

       Mitkonos: 61 (elf-flavoured almonds stuffed with poison)

    RUNNERS ... ER ... DOWN?

    1. Avo:      59  (pizza-flavoured cotton-candy rolled in blood)
    2. Steff: 54 (chocolate-flavoured macaroons slathered with dirt)
    3. Eomyr: 53 (pepper-flavoured pies sprinkled with toothpaste)
       Cherek:   53  (bubblegum with fungus)
       Mackrel:  53  (hard-candies)

Ah, yes ... so choice ... chef's kiss ...

Who hasn't dreamed of toothpaste on their pepper pie? And Mackrel just
knocked it out of the park in the bland department. A very special mention
must go to Avo, who seems to have ranked in both the Top-Pick AND most
disliked candies!! Clearly, this cotton-candy variant is polarizing.
Discuss amongst yourselves. Another *very* special mention must go to
Cherek, who decided to enter the contest as a wizard. Hey, he's Keeper
so no one had the authority to tell him this was a mortal event! And,
he ranked. So ... be sure to commune him about 50 times a day to tell
him what an awesome job he did!

=================================
TOP-PICK COSTUME WINNERS!
=================================

Alright! Let's move on to the people who had the most people choose their
costume for the top-pick of the entire event.

    TOP PERFORMER!

       Hannabeth:   13 (goblin-sized parrot in a kender-sized corset)

    RUNNERS UP:

    1. Chanele: 6 (huge camel with enormous toes) <-- Oy, veh ...
    2. Anghulimala: 5 (steaming turkey with alluring legs)
    3. Taro: 4 (baby monkey in a snazzy hat)
       Javelin: 4 (succubus hamster with crusty teeth)
       Taran: 4 (devil devil with devil wings) <-- Indeed!!
       Raelle: 4 (undersized gremlin with an enviable codpiece)

Here, we seem to have rewarded the bizarre, naughty, and intentionally
stupid in equal measure. Not one of these is a genuinely scary or
traditional Halloween costume. So be it!

=================================
COSTUMES SORTED AS FAVORITES:
=================================

Now let's look at the number of times people had their costumes sorted into
the "favorite" category by other contestants ...

    TOP PERFORMERS!

       Wynona: 41 (undersized mouse with oversized ears)
       Snowdrop: 41 (wiggly centipede in jeweled boots)

    RUNNERS UP:

    1. Chanele: 39 (huge camel with enormous toes) <-- *cough*
    2. Hannabeth: 36  (goblin-sized parrot in a kender-sized corset)
    3. Taro: 34 (baby monkey in a snazzy hat)
    4. Ravhin: 33 (beholder with enviable eyelashes)
       Morokei 33 (baby shark) <---- of course it happened

Well now! It looks like this year's favorites were, more than anything
else, adorable little animals! Okay, so Ravhin's is oddball fun, and we have
two standard memes in play, but still ... this is a very cute list. Fun!

=================================
MOST DISLIKED COSTUMES!!!
=================================

Again ... just some giggles here, seeing whose costumes were just not at
all popular.

    BOTTOM PERFORMER!?

       Stryder: 56 (tassled goat in a filthy diaper)

    RUNNERS ... ER ... DOWN??

    1. Ria: 55 (greasy octopus in a huge diaper)
    2. Baz:      52  (kender-sized turtle with kender-sized wings)
       Taran: 52 (devil devil with devil wings) <-- Indeed, indeed!
    3. Mackrel:  51  (gargoyle with a tongue)
    4. Minion:   49  (teeny-weenie sheep with a dripping butt) <-- Uff da
       Mortimor: 49 (blood-soaked baby in a steaming diaper)
       Neodin: 49 (disturbing beholder with blood-soaked fangs)

It's a Diaper-Lover's Paradise! Which isn't a thing. But clearly the
diapers won(?) big in this category. Also, things that apparently
needed diapers but went without. The rest are unappealing for whatever
reasons you all were feeling, but I must say I do not know what is
wrong with Neodin's - it is actually a proper Halloween Monster costume!
A travesty of justice!!

=================================
RANDOM FACTOID!
=================================

Blood, blood, blood! Everywhere there was blood this year, from the
soaking of the tuxedoes to the rolling of the cotton candy. Was this
event held in a slaughterhouse, or is the world just filling up with
people REALLY REALLY into blood? Hmmmmmmmmmm ....

  Blood mentions in candy:    16
  Blood mentions in costumes: 17

=================================

Okay ... now we get to prizes. The winners of these categories actually will
receive prizes, which will be described in each category. Good stuff! These
were hard to achieve, and well-earned.

  * rewards displayed thusly ...

=================================
TOP POINT-EARNERS FOR COSTUMES:
=================================

Winning the overall categories required that you have lots and lots
of people find your style favorite-worthy, a few people give you top-picks,
and a lot of the rest think you are at least okay.

    FIRST PLACE:
    -----------
       Hannabeth: 293  (goblin-sized parrot in a kender-sized corset)

                      * Excellent general exp reward
                      * glittering imbuement stone of choice
                      * title: Ghostly's Cause-Doom Collaborator
                      * item: pumpkin-bucket with costume till next Halloween!
                        (can be worn freely in Sparkle domain only)

    SECOND PLACE:
    ------------
       Chanele: 228 (huge camel with enormous toes) <--- *facepalm*

                      * Good general exp reward
                      * unblemished imbuement stone of choice

    THIRD PLACE:
    -----------
       Taro: 201 (baby monkey in a snazzy hat)

                      * Medium general exp reward
                      * ordinary imbuement stone of choice

    RUNNERS UP: (no prizes, sorry ...)

    4. Snowdrop: 178 (wiggly centipede in jeweled boots)
    5. Morokei:  168  (baby shark)
    6. Wynona: 166 (undersized mouse with oversized ears)

Not one of these is any sort of traditionally spooky Halloween costume,
and two of the memes made it in. Amusement, ftw! Hannabeth seems on a
roll here, folks.

=================================
TOP POINT-EARNERS FOR CANDIES:
=================================

    FIRST PLACE:
    -----------
       Stryder: 243 (bourbon-flavoured caramels covered with chocolate)

                      * Excellent general exp reward
                      * glittering imbuement stone of choice
                      * title: Ghostly's D-Lich-ous Dessert-Maker
                      * item: pumpkin-bucket with candy till next Halloween!
                        (munch candy for full health restore once per day)

    SECOND PLACE:
    ------------
       Hannabeth: 240 (bourbon-flavoured suckers stuffed with mithril)

                      * Good general exp reward
                      * unblemished imbuement stone of choice

    THIRD PLACE:
    -----------
       Ergeba: 234 (caramel-flavoured baklava with layers of maple-syrup)

                      * Medium general exp reward
                      * ordinary imbuement stone of choice

    RUNNERS UP: (no prizes, sorry ...)

    4. Nailo: 213 (bourbon-flavoured brownies slathered with chocolate)
    5. Penelope: 185 (coffee-flavoured toffees dipped in chocolate)
       Chipper:  183  (strawberry-flavoured wafers sprinkled with lemon-dust)

I was surprised to see that winners here were truly just delicious stuff.
People didn't upvote the disgusting nonsense with candies like they did with
costumes. Fascinating! Also ... bourbon (a new flavour this year) is the
clear winning ingredient, appearing in three of the top five, and both
first and second place!

=================================
TOP POINT-EARNERS FOR EVENT:
=================================

Who won by a nose? Was it a photo-finish? Are the judges arguing over tiny
point differences? Um ... no.

    FIRST PLACE:
    -----------
       Hannabeth: 836 (goblin-sized parrot in a kender-sized corset)
                      (bourbon-flavoured suckers stuffed with mithril)
                      (location: Main Street inside Sparkle Gate)

                      * Excellent quest exp reward
                      * title: Ghostly's Best and Spookiest Friend Forever
                      * item: pumpkin-bucket with candy and with costume
                              till next Halloween!
                        (munch candy for full health restore once per day)
                        (costume can be worn freely only in Sparkle domain)

    SECOND PLACE:
    ------------
       Ergeba: 672 (huge centaur in a sharp tuxedo)
                      (caramel-flavoured baklava with layers of maple-syrup)
                      (location: Berth 9 - Calia at the Sparkle Port)

                      * Good quest exp reward

    THIRD PLACE:
    -----------
       Chanele: 647 (huge camel with enormous toes)
                      (wasabi-flavoured peanuts rolled in pepper)
                      (location: Berth 12 - Cadu at the Sparkle Port)

                      * Medium quest exp reward

    HONORABLE MENTIONS:

    4. Snowdrop: 621
    5. Taro:     617
    6. Nailo:    610
    7. Gortag:   601
       Druel:    601
    8. Diri:     590

Holy Cow! Hannabeth just crushed it, racing ahead of the next highest
point earner by more than 160 points! Was her costume the most amazing? Did
her candy satisfy more than any other? Did she secretly bribe half the game
to vote for her? Who cares!? She destroyed you all!!!

Last year Bocephus won by a mere 40 points, and that looked like a big
win. This was 4x that point advantage. Next time we will all need to scale
the high cliffs to find Hannabeth sitting serenely in repose to study at
the feet of the master. Reveal your secrets to us, mighty guru. And,
congrats!

=================================
GHOSTLY'S CHOICE!!!!!!!
=================================

You thought it was over? Nonononononono ... Ghostly insisted that he got
to pick his two favorites - one for costume and one for candy. And he also
insisted that they get a prize. Fine, fine ... they get a little bit of
quest exp for making Ghostly happy.

    GHOSTLY'S COSTUME PICK:
    ----------------------
         Thoru: a frumpy hog in a sequined leotard

Ghostly is wearing a sheet, and a leotard is kind of like wearing a sheet,
but way, way, spicier! Also ... nothing fills it out like a frumpy hog.
And with sequins? An incredible costume!!

    GHOSTLY'S CANDY PICK:
    --------------------
         Anghulimala: steak-flavoured nougats dipped in soy-sauce

Ghostly loves tapas, and these babies are right up his alley! Put these
things on a skewer and sit him down with an iced daiquiri and you might
just make him cry tears of joy.

         * Both win a good quest exp reward!!! (Ghostly said so)

---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---.---
---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---'---

Well, there you have it, folks! Lots of silly fun, and many good memories
for our Halloween time together. You made Ghostly happy, and I hope you all
had a good time. Notes on prizes:

  * Imbuement Stones will be handed out manually by Gorboth. I'll be
    looking for you in the game, and feel free to <commune> me if you
    see me on.

  * Winners can <claim> all other prizes in the AoE office in the basement
    of the Tower of Realms.

Congratulations to Hannabeth, Chanele, Taro, Stryder, Ergeba, Thoru and
Anghulimala on their award-worthy performance in the event!

All the best till next time,
G.
Mmmmmm ... pie ...
