What you posted looks too much like "manga meets the medieval". Sorry, but when it comes to Tolkien artwork I'm an Alan Lee purist.

I didn't love them as presented either, but imagining them as stained glass windows set in a stone wall...

Thanks for sharing them, G.
The preceding collection of words was presented by Strider's Player.
Any meaning you ascribe to them is most likely due to lucky happenstance or your misinterpretation.

If you'd prefer Strider's opinion, you'll probably have to ask for it in game.

Ah ... I don't restrict myself to realism. What that guy did was fully stylized and interesting. Tolkien himself liked best some of the most abstract interpretations of his work from visual artists.

I really like the style! Finally some fantasy art that does not have the same "photoshop airbrush" type of look that basically all other fantasy art. has I could see myself having a painting like that. Most of his other work was also really nice.

If you want more good fantasy art that isn't your typical thing I suggest looking up John Blanche or Adrian Smith. The works this guys create are astounding and occupy opposite spectrums with Blanche's works veering towards surreal while Smith's toward realism (Blanche = more art, Smith = more craftsmanship).

I would agree -- it definitely had me invisioning stained glasses windows with all the outlines. Or.. would be really awesome as silk dyed art. That would be pretty cool as well.

Nice medium.
If something I wrote sounds confusing ... assume you misunderstood it.

Stained glass windows or murals was my first thoughts. Cool though.
Might and Glory flaming for changing dawn, ancient power revealed of an iron crown, clear and cold and shining so far and bright, crush the world in one clash of your binding light.
