Dumb question. I've always wondered: how does one donate to Gen?

I keep thinking of all the people putting in their hard work, wits, and free time into making a game that we can enjoy and complain about. They're building mud clients, working on the interface, maintaining a forum, etc., and I never hear them asking for anything in return.

The last fundraising I found in the forum was from 2011. Is there going to be a new one sometime?

We used to have a "Donate" button on the website that was taken down after our last campaign to raise funds. It is possible we might do another ask if we find those funds depleted, but there is still more than $2500 USD from the last campaign, so we haven't felt the need at this point.

If people are interested in giving, we could re-establish that information, of course.

I think having a donation button on the website would steal some of the possible interest of the new players, fearful and disgusted as many net-citizens are of tricks and cons to reach into their pockets. As an example, lets remember the flame wars against Ubuntu and Canonical in general when they started adding the "donation" button while installing the OS, even though one could simply click on "no thanks". They perceive it as a psychological trick, and are put off by it.

Instead, we, the players who already consider Genesis as a kind of community, could have access to this link, perhaps in a thread for validated game players here in the forum? That would make it a tad "harder" to find, and thus not so obvious.

Otherwise, just give a shout out when the next round of donations are to be collected, and I'll gladly chip in whatever I can
