This problem is caused by thieves, not Magi. I agree wholeheartedly in your
desire to rid our lands of the problem of magical thieves. They join our
school and defile it. They misuse and denigrate our craft. The fact that
schoolmaster Theobald lets them join our school is a disgrace. I can only
assume that it is for monetary reward that he allows such blaspheme.
You should know that most Magi are against this, and quite vehemently so. The
worst of it is that it taints the name of magic when thieves are allowed into
our school, and then go on to blemish the name of magic in the lands.. That is
enough of a reason that they be killed. Secondly, we in fact are the most
frequent victims of such Magi, as we are their targets of choice (having most
readily the components of the craft).
These are renegades. While Magi support each other, those that are thieves
and use magic to do so, soil our craft. In doing so they hinder the
advancement of magic (our highest calling), thereby being renegades, and
deserving of death. It is our desire as wells that they be eradicated. To that
end some of us have cooperated in the past with victims, using our magic to
help others who to apprehend and terminate such wrong doers where we can.
I think such retribution would therefor be directed more appropriately at the
thieves guilds. I suggest that you instead ban together with Magi to hunt
thieves who use our spell of invisibility to rob. I believe our fellow
students are the most vehement supporters for the eradication of such
renegades. If that is your real purpose, then I say, lets us join together. A
quick check of those currently online reveal many willing.
