Shocked by no feeling.
Pained, I retreated.
Feeling foolish, defeated.
Thoughts often racing,
not lagging through pacing.
Adrift and lost, I returned.
Met by games that still burned.
I think and I ponder,
I roam and I wander.
I search all I find,
not revealing reason or rhyme.
I know it's for naught, I know I should go.
Still here I'm caught, drifting to and fro.
No bonds to hold me, no reason to stay.
No dream to return to, hopeless each way.
A call in the darkness, almost a yell.
An old soul beckons, with stories to tell.
His comfort awaits, yet still I debate.
