Hello,
Oh, I don't think it was the dumbest change ever, I am sure
we have made many changes that were a lot dumber!
Jokes aside, I am curious to hear WHY you think it's such a
dumb change, though?
My reasoning for changing it was this:
1. It was originally intended as as something that would make
the game a little easier for newbies - the group of players
that suffer the most from fatigue since they are so small.
So, it still works for anyone below veteran size, just like
it did before.
2. This command was used by older players to never suffer
fatigue in the Sparkle area. That meant for example that they
could incorporate it in their grinding scripts, and never
ever get tired. Also, it would mean a hunted player would
never get tired in the Sparkle area, and poisons or abilities
that makes you tired would have little effect, since you can
always just run to the church and "rest" to nullify it. Yes,
the church is also a safe area, but if you are already in a
fight, it's NOT safe, and the fight will continue in the
church. So, removing the rest command for older players has
made Sparkle a little less safe, which I think is good.
3. As Sparkle is a hub, people constantly travel through
Sparkle. Many will of course always make sure to pass by the
church to "rest" if they are tired, and instantly remove
any fatigue. While this is convenient, I don't think it's
necessarily an especially good thing. Fatigue should be part
of the game, and I think the way to combat it should be using
herbs, spells and mounts, not a an "instant fatigue heal"
in the main hub of the game. I think it makes more sense
that, just like the "home" command, and "ntell" chat, it's
something that is helpful for new players only.
Those are my reasons for changing it. Now, I am happy to
listen to feedback from players, as long as it's provided
in a respectful way. So, if you want to explain WHY you
think this is dumb, please send me a mail, or just reply to
this post.
