Two Guild Closures ...

Post by gorboth » 29 Jan 2010 00:42

Hi Everyone,

I am posting to inform the game that within a week or so, the Vampire and
Bloodguard guilds will cease to exist in Genesis. Between now and then,
a free-exit option will be given to all members. Those who do not leave
before the guilds close will be removed automatically (again, without
penalty) upon their next login, once the closure takes place.

This post is the first this news has officially reached anyone outside the
Admin, including the Vampire and Bloodguard members themselves. This may
seem rather cold and abrubt of me, and I regret that I feel it necessary
to announce it the way I am. The reason, however, is that I want everyone
to hear it from me, rather than through the rather poisonous grapevine.

I anticipate a lot of fallout from this. Some players are likely to leave.
I suspect that some players who are not even members will feel this is such
a low point for the game that they will leave out of loyalty to friends,
perceived injustice, or principle.

Why, then, would I make this choice? I, who have always valued playerbase
numbers so highly? Unfortunately, we have reached a point where I feel it
is time to cut losses. If you have not already done so, you are likely to
hear various versions of what has lead up to this, each with its own
vehement point of view and certainty of the truth. Many wizard (and player)
names are likely to he held up as examples of corruption/tyrrany/etc. The
out-of-game network will do its (unfortunate) thing. So, in extreme brevity,
here are what I believe are the important facts.

1. I, Gorboth, made many mistakes.
2. Many players and wizards did not cope well with my mistakes.
3. I attempted to fix my mistakes.
4. I failed.

And, thus, I am cutting losses. I believe that I am no more capable of
fixing my mistakes than the currently affected players are of accepting
any of my further attempts. So ... I'm ending it.

I offer my apologies and regrets to those players who have tried hard to
make this work, and to those players whose gameplay has been effectively
ruined by this.

Mmmmmm ... pie ...
