but will bring it in for this one.

I have a lot to say so apologies if this turns into another Tarax
epic, but will try to make the points stand out. Where to start?

GORBOTH YOU HAVE MY SUPPORT, AND SYMPATHY.
You have been working your ass off for this game, and we the
reasonable majority of the players are very appreciative.
Players often get to a point where Gen can feel more like a job
than having fun. Thats when we leave for a while. I can only dread
to imagine how shit like this makes you feel. So thanks for tuffing
it out, sorry you are caught in the middle. Give that man a round of
applause.

SHOULD THE GUILDS BE CLOSED?
Yes, the players in the guild put in something of an ultimatum I
understand, so good time to close them. There is too much shit
going on detracting energy from the positive. There has also
been some very selfish actions threatened by some of the parties
involved in the bigger debacle. Shame on their selfishness.
This saps all will to find a solution, cut losses is right.

SHOULD PLAYERS HAVE AMNESTY?
Really there is no such thing possible. Do you think anyone would
listen? Vamps also rumoured to have asked about getting name changes.
To this I would say by all means. If it keeps another player in the
game then go for it. But personally I scoff anyone who wants to.
Vampires have always projected the attitude, we have nice specials
but it is we the player who makes them deadly. You complain about
us you are just jealous we are so l33t... If thats the case get back
on the horse choose a guild and defend yourselves like the majority
of the rest of people always have had to.
Vamps - This is your proving ground. Show us your mettle!

SO HOW DID WE GET HERE?
- JOINING
A friend of mine explained to me years ago that Gen has normal guilds
like gladiators and knights and it also has the VIP guilds.
At the time that was Morgul Mages and Vampires. Only no one can
join those guilds, its just for their friends.
I was shocked.
Since then I have moved past that perception, but it was a belief
that many seemed to hold.
I now feel that the determined and skilled player would have an
excellent chance of becoming a Mage and a reasonable one for Vamp.
What hurt Vamps more was their reasoning that they had to be one
very tight knit family for all eternity, more internal fighting
would have been healthy for them. They were also more aloof than
Mages, its not hard to find Minas Morgul. Harder to find a Vamp.

- SKILLSET = GODMODE
The Mages had the Rangers and they are well balanced to cancel each
other out. The Vamps for a long time did not have a balance. They
had PvP abilities which made the rest of us their food.
It was made worse by their sneakiness and invisibility. Even in a
stand-up fight if it went badly for the vampire they could
very easily bug out and evade the death. So much so that in semi
recent times it wasn't until a war between the then new Vampires
and the Mages than Dauron managed to make the first kill against
them. Effectively for the rest of us we had next to no chance.
-Not to mention shared Vamp knowledge for an item based combat portal.
You get the point.
I love vampire lore, there are many ways they could have been
implemented with a better balance and still been awesome. But it was
what it was.

- DARK ASSASSINS
You have the skills, even with some restraint you are going to make
use of them. Vampires killed a lot of players and bullied people.
Killing people on the holm to avoid competition for runnies. Its
not against any rule, but given the balance it sucked to be the
intended victim.
Various wars were fought, but never quite openly. It always felt
for the victims they were being picked on.

- ENTER THE CIRCLINGS
So after enduring the reign of the Vampires the players are given
an intended balance. It goes to the "good" side even though Vamps
fought their share of wars and vendettas against evils too.
It had to come eventually. It was right to come along.
A neutral vampire hunting layman would have done the trick but
we got a goodie occupational instead. And for years it worked
reasonably well.

- ENTER THE EGOS
Strong egos on both sides wanting their guild to have the upper
hand. Too much tinkering to fix something quickly after a defeat.
Not enough real balance. That's how I call it.
The attachments of the wizards to the guilds was too strong.
A good balance found and leave the players to fight it out never
happened.

SO WHERE ARE WE NOW?
Well for me I see both sides and feel there is no smoke without fire.
If wizards are/were coding to try and pseudo balance another guild
like making it harder for just that guild. Or ignoring imbalance
in the guilds and adding more such as bypassing stuns following a
bad encounter, or making items biased against the other guild.
Well its a sorry state of affairs.

Personally I see the position of the Spirit Circle as being a lot
more rocky following this guild closure. Are they going to be
the new God Mode guild in town?
What can we learn from this for the future?

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GOOD AND EVIL
Its only a point of view. Evil characters are not evil players
behind the keyboard, neither are the holy. There are war mongers
on both sides.

A BALANCED GAME IS A HAPPY GAME
Every guild should have an answer or two, no more god mode please.
One guild should not have it all.
There have been soo many questions raised over the SC balance
that I am very very very very concerned.
Its a great guild, wonderfully creative work. The players in
it all seem to love it. It answered a real need.
But try to stay away from thinking evil had their fun,
its goods go now...

End of an Era is correct.
I am sad I never killed a vampire.
