A quite long & very OOC note of praise!

Just o clarify - I'm aware of that there's a command for global positive
feedback (syspraise) but I would like to share my thoughts here on this board
instead. I do not engage much in other channels such as Discord, web based
forums etc.

I've been here, on and off since the mid 90's. And I've only had one (-ish)
real character in Genesis. Actually, there's been two, but to make a long story
short I eventually wizzed with my firstm 'Thalamus', mostly to keep myself from
playing too much. And as a wizard I didn't get any further than creating my
workroom. A while later, I requested to have my character deleted after I was
told there was no backup of my mortal self. A year or so later, I got the
'Genesis Urge' (TM) again and brought up 'Treo'. I did ask for a name change
but the request was denied.

The reason I write this backstory is that I see my two characters, T and T, as
one and the same. I more or less kept the same friends, before and after. It
would be much different if I actively had chosen to have two different
characters, if that was the case I would keep them separate. For me,
personally, having one character in Genesis is plenty - and more than enough to
handle.

With that out of the way...

I've basically had three long stints in Genesis. The stint with Thalamus. The
first stint with Treo. And after around 15 year's inactivity - a currently
ongoing second stint with Treo that started X-mas 2020. And let me start by
emphasizing what a PLEASURE it is to be back, a lot has changed and almost all
of of it to the better!

The Positives

- The Web Client - a game changer for me and probably what got me hooked
again. Having restarted playing Genesis in the past and dumped all my
zMUD configurations twice, I really did not feel like starting over
again with a local client. Also, I use a lot of different gizmos to be
here, different computers, phones and a tablet. To have all my aliases
and triggers availble regardless of platform is amazing.

- The Death Recovery System - while meeting Lars or loosing combat exp
by leaving a guild is never fun, the death recovery makes it a breeze
compared to how severe it was in the past.

- The Imbuement System - I was thrilled when getting my lapidarium and
reading up on it at Knarkafeldt's place. What a great way of adding
flexibility to the game, goals to strive for and something to spend
hard earned money on.

- The Auction House - another excellent addition, global auctions with the
ability to buy and sell items. I have used the auction service
extensively since I understood how it worked.

- The Quest Orbs - its extremely useful to have the quest orbs and to see
what you have solved and what remains to be done. It was almost
impossible to know what quests existed in the past without any inside
knowledge. And the hint system is the cherry on top. Makes it much more
fun and easy to quest!

- The Magic Map - at first I didn't understand how useful the magic map
could be. And the reason for this was that I spent a lot of times in
areas I already knew. When I got a bit more adventurous and travelled,
about I realised how powerful it is. Now I can't live without the magic
map, I would be lost! And besides, all my zMUD and paper maps are lost,
not to mention obsolete.

- The Growth - Genesis is so much bigger than I remember from the past. So
many domains, quests, items, guilds and things to do. Genesis was always
big and now it is crazy big.

- The absence of bugs and the flow. Genesis is extremely stable compared
to the past, it is both fast and dependable. Gone are days when players
shouted 'L L A A A A A A G G G ! ! !' in frustration. Armageddon would
happen both when you expected it to and when you least expected it.

There are much more positive things to highlight. But I will stop now with
respect for your time. It is so much easier to be a player today compared to
the past! Thank you esteemed wizards for your work!

The Negatives

There are a few things that comes to mind. But in my book there's only one
negative aspect thats worth highlighting and thats how we treat eachother.

While I have limited insight into what makes excellent wizards such as Lilith
and Cherek to write their recent notes on the common board. I've seen how we
players treat our voluntary workforce that both create, expand and maintain our
Donut many times in the past. One particularly nasty situation was the infamous
'stat change' and while that was a massive change that affected all players
stats, something had to be done to remedy the situation. And I still remember
Zingil's well-written and informative note on in Sparkle - and also how he
bravely stood there, in Sparkle, and tried to explain. He got so much heat for
that and so many rude comments, some from people I knew. I still get upset when
I think about it. I also remember talking to Zingil first hand about it, be it
at some Genesis party or the time I visited the cradle of Genesis at Chalmers.

I did not like that particular change myself at the time, being a bit obsessed
about my stats, but I did not complain or scold anyone for it. I lived and
learned and eventually I realized that the change was needed.

To conclude this, I will not point any fingers or try to lecture others on how
to be decent human beings, but we mortals must keep in mind that we can enjoy
this world thanks to our unpaid content creators. Think about that.

Thank you for your time!
