Minstrels aren't converted over to the new spell system at all. Looks like vibrato could potentially drain your entire mana pool in a casting ;).

Having said that, it won't be hard to convert them over... just need someone to spend the time to do it.

Greetings!

A big bearhug to the one who made the changes.
For a long time Minstrels have been neglected and some of the songs have been utterly useless, but now... WOW!!

After I noticed the new change I immidiately went to Cadu for a new test.

You attack the fierce jabberwock.

The fierce jabberwock is forced to the ground by the power of the music.

The fierce jabberwock died.
You killed the fierce jabberwock.

Finally Vibrato is up to it's old status.
Not only that. The casting speed seems to be two times as fast AND this time only a quarter of the mana pool was gone!!

The Bravuro- and Lux songs are gone and replaced with a fantastic ”Song of War”.

This song is a wonder for a lone fighter/minstrel.
I have not tested it all out yet, but it's features looks like
a) Damage effect on all opponents (pretty decent)
b) Stunneffects (20-30 sec, overlapping old effects if cast a second time)
EDIT: Stunning seems to lower opps defence and parry also.

Not only that. If ýou are in a team the following effects have been noticed:
a) Raises team members DIS by quite a lot depending on their size
(I wonder what DIS will do in the near future, but Gorboth has not revealed anything yet about this)
b) Remove stun/paralyze effects including dragon fear!
c) Adds immune to ”stun/paralyze/fear” on all team members for quite some time (So far tests are very uncertain but cooldown seems to be random between 30sec-2min)

Note that the team member effects can only be obtained if the Minstrels DOES NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE FIGHT.
Also there is a 30sec cooldown on assist and attack after a Song of War if you are not fighting and assist fighting teammembers with a song.
EDIT: Move Behind works to circumvent this, but the Taunt Song (new!) is on cooldown for 30 sec as well.

All in all. A new fresh set of songs (Taunt is a lot of fun) and old songs have been upgraded so much one could belive this did not happen.

Can confirm.
Minstrels upgrade is a gamechanger.

Hasn't gone through a balance review, so unlikely to remain that way.

The good thing is that it isn't op, just very solid. Impressive job. Yes, might need some tweaks on the stunning department but it's nothing outrageous as a base concept.

One of the many reasons to play Genesis:

Waiting for whatever Aprils Fools Mim cooks up every year.

You almost had me this time!

I will say that if Zugzug hadn't taken it too far, I might have believed it a bit longer than I did.
