Block + Ogre Quake Interaction

If you haven't already, you should see the full fight in the Logs and Stories section...

Code: Select all

Irk tries to leave using the north exit, but you cause him to stumble
preventing him from leaving the room.
Bale brings his massive foot down in a mighty battle-stomp, triggering a minor
earthquake!
Someone draws power from the realm of shadows.
Your attack on Irk deadens as it strikes and it does not seem to hurt him as
much as you think it should.
Screaming like some mad beast, you lay into Irk!
Swinging wildly, you buffet him with your bloody skull club!
Irk tries to leave using the north exit, but you step into his path and prevent
him from exiting.
Irk drinks some of the 63 dwarven ales from the big bottle.
Irk tries to leave using the north exit, but you block him from leaving as best
as you can.
Irk manages to leave using the north exit.
You are now hunting Irk.
Irk leaves north.
>
Your legs can't manage with the earthquake! Wait till it subsides.
Ilrahil howls: How'd he get out?
Irk was already trying to break block before the earthquake was triggered, so when he finally broke it he was able to leave.

But what happens with the other way around? I'm guessing that this is what they will try next time, but does that mean that you can't even begin to break block until the earthquake is over? Irk was just lucky that the evils didn't know this to begin with, otherwise it may have gone a whole different way.

I'm guessing that Ilrahil is already planning this ;) . I made a comment in another thread staying that he's always the one to figure the most effective ways. I'd like to compliment whoever planned the trap. It really was a stroke of genius.

Still, I can't help fear that the stacking combination of the two abilities may be a little bit too powerful, though. Maybe a virtual I-win button?

Thoughts anyone? Perhaps someone has a positive suggestion on how they can interact without just nerfing the ogre ability. I'd like to see ogres keep the quake, and I like block the way it is. I just wanted to discuss the interaction.

Bale brings his massive foot down in a mighty battle-stomp, triggering a minor
earthquake!
You batter Artagel's legs with your gigantic steel broadsword.
Chade closes his eyes and concentrates.
Chade smashes an egg in his face.
Chade grazes his basket-hilt falchion along Artagel.
Bombur's heavy black mace falls on Chade with a bone breaking sound!

Chade slashes into Artagel's head with his basket-hilt falchion, then brings it

Bale lightly bruises Chade's body with his sledgehammer of the colossus.
Artagel grimaces in pain as Tharandil drives his sleek steel-bladed poleaxe
deep into Artagel's head.
Tharandil pounces fiercely and arcs his sleek steel-bladed poleaxe towards
Artagel, thumping his body adeptly.
You pounce fiercely and swerve your gigantic steel broadsword towards Artagel,
hammering his left arm incisively.

The runes on the ancient mithril chainmail dim down to a black color.

Amberlee gets 18 sybarun coins, six platinum coins and many gold coins from the
corpse of Artagel.
None of your team members are in combat.

Artagel died very recently again this way - attacking the Irk+ team and being blocked by HIS OWN team

I imagine that earthquake should cancel all blocks in the room.
Earthquake stops you from moving, so both blocking and escaping block, while there is an earthquake going on, seem odd to me.

Not sure how would it affect the block / earthquake balance.

Earth the plan was set up by most of us.

We knew Irk was about and hunting because he had recently attacked Freya and Tarax.

We were going for him in Mithas and I scried him with tarax in the sparkle church. We contacted the rest of the team, and I got a message to Tarax I believe in the most inconspicous manner I know available in game and the plan was hatched.

I personally feel cheated out of the kill. I understand perhaps those abilities weren't made to be used in unison however if you look at ogres as mostly evil, It would be the same way with knights using a ridiculously high level block and others using small blocks. Not much of a difference other than it being the same skill as opposed to block + ogrestomp.

But hopefully the wizards will fix it.

Earth in Answer they should absolutely positively stack!!

Irk broke the block of 3 people, during an earthquake.
Meaning he left and no-one else could follow to hunt!!
He should have had his attempt to break block suspended for Earthquake duration and start again trying from scratch afterwards.

The entire time he was kept in the room with 2 stacked stomps, 3 blockes then another stomp was likely less than 3 knight blockers could have held him there for, never mind 6... Its talk about the evils and goods, but as we have seen VERY often knights, and calians are just as aggressive and gank people.

With chade and poet using gigantic steel broadswords they have 10 times the crowd control.
Its scary for both sides... But better than someone just speedwalking to safety or safe rooms with ease.
We have recovery.
