The point of all this is I think we all agree that we would love to have more players, if you look at each of these sites you will generally see the same muds at the top of the listings, the same muds in the banners and the same muds actively searching for new members on the boards. These muds do great with 100+ if not 400+ people.

Our facebook page does no massive recruiting and gathers old players, which is fine but can be used for so much more. There are several people with certain likes that can be targeted and invite to the group or redirected to the website. The same goes for Myspace which is even easier to locate people.

We tried the rankings and got into the top 30 I believe then all of a sudden everyone just quit voting, can we see about adding a feature in game to vote? Give a little random boost for an hour a day, like the new sparkle quest just for clicking on the links. Haste, Ac, str, etc.

Can we at least give some of the advertising options listed above a shot, they are rather inexpensive in my eyes bar cmud and could improve our playerbase dramatically or even just by 10. 35$ for 10 true new people is a damn good investment to me.

Nice research!

I dont think the problem is nobody wants to advertise, but rather that nobody really is interested in actually doing the work. In this case it would be creating the banners and of course actually paying for the advertisement and taking care of that part.

I doubt anyone will say no if you or someone else volunteers to fix this. Writing a post here is a nice start, but then someone has to actually do something more too.

Last time the subject was up I did volunteer to make a banner based on an idea I had. I guess I am still willing to do so, but I still would like some help to come up with the text on the banner. Nobody did help back then and the project kinda stalled, but if you wanna help, then help me by coming up with what to write.

FYI -- you cannot reward people for voting. Its part of the rules all these voting things they set up.

If we see an organized and driven effort, with clear identifications of goals, means, timeframes and reporting - I am with you here. To me 50% of the perceived problems Genesis has today comes from the lack of a generation of a whole group of new players.
