autohunt, pvp's etc

Post by Kvator » 21 Jan 2016 22:12

Soooo PvP in Genesis is pretty crappy, isn't it?

You can kill a person only if:

- there's significant size differential (not funny)
- you are a member of one of these imbalanced guilds (but hey you! everything's perfectly balanced in Genesis!)-
- other person's afk/dc/botting (not funny)
- you are a psycho pvp specialist with luck on your side (rare example)
- you use AUTOHUNT (NOT FUNNY)

So why is that?
Because you can outrun other people easily! Hell you can run through whole Middle Earth without single stop! I know it's pretty neat in most cases (stops are boring), but here I have this idea:

When you are engaged in combat with other player (lets say at least 5 mins since the last time you were in the same room) you are exhausting like 10-20 times faster! voilla! (PERSONAL AGENDA! should tire faster with steeds as well, just not as much - like 5-15/depending on steed, skill etc. PERSONAL AGENDA OVER!).

So the hunter have the advantage now! Let's give some love to the prey as well.
Two ideas (both ANTI-autohunt):
1 - Implement something that when you are hunting you'r prey with ABOVE HUMAN reaction time (in locations with more than 2 exits, of course) then you will be tiring even more!
2 - Implement something like this: when in middle of combat 10% of your movements are unseen - so instead of 'Kvators goes south' it will be just 'Kvator runs'

Sooo how you people like it? (won't do any poll, since it's not reliable on this forum)

Bonus idea to make PvP more fun! - remove or decrease xp-loss significantly if you die due to PvP!

No.
Recovery is so easy now.
You dont really need more than the recovery for a quick fix.
At your size its 2 weeks and you're back tops.

Amberlee: Your post does not make sense to me.:) Recovery is about recovering after you have died. Kvator's suggestion deals with how to make the actual PVP-ing more fun and fair... its two different topics?

Kvator: We've been discussing ideas very similar to that one for some time now. There has been attempts to implement the autohunt-break thing as well, but it's proven to be easier said than done as I understand.

I generally agree though. To make PVP fun again there are a number of things that need to change game-design wise, including a more fun and fair "hunt" system. Size differences also gets in the way of fun PVP, and the different types of PVP abilities available also cause issues, as well as some guild being recoded and some don't. So there's lot of things we could improve.

I hope now with the increased number of players, and also increased numbers of new wizards, and old returning, we may eventually have the wizard manpower to actually look into things like this. As with anything, some skilled wizard needs to have the time and motivation to make it happen. And those wizards dont grow on trees...

What I am saying here Cherek, is.
Death is supposed to sting a bit.
Even PvP death.

And considering recovery is so easy, this seems to be little more than a whine comming from someone too scared to lose his average.
Sure death sucks.
Sets you back a bit.
Also it regulates size inflation a bit.
However some people are comming dangerously close to being so big as to break the game.

Should we start another thread about death and death recovery? Or just keep talking about it in this thread?

1: Extra fatigue means size will make a bigger difference.

2: More fatigue for spamming commands will give size a bigger advantage. Trying to run away, you wont stop to read the room, and you would be hit by this. Autohunt will also get hit, so again.. size is the factor.

3: Kvator runs!.. sounds good, actually a neat way of doing it. If deemed too helpfull, it could be reduced to when you wimp, then noone knows where you are at start. Drawback is this just aids people in fleeing, making gank-teams an even bigger issue.

Alisa you didnt say anything new, always size matters, but also guild (much more than size) and eq. Ofc there is couple more points which count in PvP.
However whatever you change in PvP, always this things will give advantage.

yeah i know, just poiting out that adding more fatigue, would increase the size difference.

Or rather, con difference :-)

for pvp to be fun there is needed a fine balance between small ones being able to escape, and big ones actually getting a kill.
