1 minute delay

Post by Mim » 25 Mar 2020 11:05

Hello!

Would is be possible to have a one minute delay on the auction house after the auction starts?
Possible to bid, but one object can never be sold the first minute.
It is pretty discouraging to see an object go out for auction, and check what it is, only to see it sold before you could see what it was.
This happens if one looks immidiately after the paddle indicates an object has come out for sale.
Auction triggers are pretty boring imo....

It might ofc be auctions with less than 72 hours which does not show up on 'top' of the lest.
Perhaps I was over reacting. :/

You are correct Mim. People have scripts to buy out items immediately. IMO it also should be banned, just like speed walking in PvP.

This is something I experience extremely rarely.
One can be really fast on the keys if something exceptional shows up.
And some people just have triggers to "aulist #number" when new item shows up.

To put a timer on would just mean that more people would be able to buy an item... and how would you then decide who should have the item? It might be more fair, but it would come with some other issues.

What about a delay of 5 minutes, but the paddle no longer vibrates?

This is very good idea. Of course some people willhave their triggers to check AH every minute and buy new, interesting items but for sure it will be much fair. Question how it would be solve who will buy the item after this 5 min delayif there will be morethan obe who will bid or would like to ke to bid?

The first person to place the buyout after 5min has expired. Then we can add a 10-sec (or more?) cool down on the buyout command (even if it fails because the item is ineligible) to prevent people from spamming. Since nobody would know the exact moment it was added to the list, nobody would know when 5 minutes is up. There's a risk to straight up spamming the command, but you also have to risk it a little to get something newly added.

Perhaps just make it to an actual auction?

Within the first 5 minutes an item is put up for sale, it will continue to add 1 platinum coin to the price when the buyout price is met.
It will only be in the first 5 minutes, so if you buyout an item that has been up for sale for an hour, it is yours.

So, if you auto-buy items, you will be set back quite a bit by this. Will mean that people who are actually paying attention will have much better chances of buying interesting items.
Which is what I think is most fair. Not someone standing idle for days and weeks taking all the goodies.

Or don't put a "buy it now"-option on it when listing?

This is a FANTASTIC suggestion and doesn't require any changes to the Auction House! Totally in the hands of players.
