Non obvious exit sneaking

Post by Tarax the Terrible » 07 Jun 2010 14:57

But there are a number of exits that autosneak will sneak someone through but the sneak command does not work for.

Like
sneak board ship
sneak climb tree
sneak enter bushes

Now before someone points it out even autosneakers are visible in some of those examples to an extent because they give the captain a ticket etc

I guess if the normal sneak command was changed to be a 1 room version of autosneak that could fix that?
so the commands would become 2 separate ones.
sneak
climb tree

So non autosneaker mode ppl could move around typing sneak a lot.
Which might be slower for sneaking further than it is now. :?
So maybe better still to have both options...

so this example would work.
sneak southeast
sneak
climb tree

The point is if it is possible for someone to sneak that direction better if all can?
Its a small concern I know.

The next question then is why not autosneak possible for all?

Autosneak not possible for all is there as a way to balance things.
There are some racial guilds with some s/h skills, it would make them more desirable automatically, and perhaps even too good in some instances.
Everyone can increase their s/h to very high levels via herbs, we would see everyone just sneaking around then.

Given all with adventurer guild skills can sneak and hide it is the skill level that is the balance.
The ability would be better described as a guild perk and I doubt anyone has to pay a tax for it.

Gladiators used to have a perk for less unarmed attacks when wielding a weapon.
Before options unarmed off was created.

The fact that only those with that perk can sneak in certain directions seems questionable to me at least.

You cannot sneak off while in combat.

Those are the examples of the things which makes the perk more useful still than just the non obvious exit aspect.

Sneaking in certain places and out of combat was related to the skill level rather than the auto-sneak ability (I think).
And I also think you DO pay tax for it.

I've never had any problems with restrictions on auto-sneak (ie. it being only available to limited number of guilds - currently 5?), it's not something that can ruin your game experience if you don't have it.

The only issue I see with it, is that Red Fang goblins can auto-sneak while riding their wolves (with wolf also sneaking). But it's not so big as it can be fluffy in some ways (ie. wolves being stealthy creatures themselves, it's easier to hide a wolf than a horse).

afaik as of a re-balance effort to sneaking a while back, noone is able to sneak away from combat unnoticed

I'd like to sneak and hide replaced first with better versions before they discuss global autosneak.

Currently the system sucks and is very useless. Sneak is fairly good, but hide sucks, and with all the guild reecodes nearly everyone is getting high awareness.
