Evil mounts

I think this thread will make Tarax happy :)

How about adding mounts for races that can't purchase them in Bree?
Wargs for orcs and gobbos that aren't RF.
Huge boars(?) for minos and ogres.

You know... Something...

Not very obvious to me.

In the 4 standard books, the wargs are not mentioned very much.
And in the movies you only see them on 1 or 2 occations.

It is not standard for the orcs, or generel armies of mordor. And beside.. AA have access to a mount, by being a goblin.

Minotaurs are part cows, and as such are themselves a riding beast, or at least a beast of burden. And ogres.. they are not ment to ride.

Wargs are mentioned in LotR trilogy (encounter with the scouts on the way to Helm's Deep) and goblin/warg alliance is depicted in The Hobbit (battle of five armies is called so because the goblins, wargs, humans, elves and dwarves took part in it).

Hallelujah brother :D

I still manage to get a horse most of the time, as I am willing to pay plats to others to buy them for me, as well as stealing each and every one I see someone has left it behind. Got 3 last arma.

That goblins cannot buy them in Bree is fine, Bree doesn't like open evil, gotcha.
That they say goblins cannot ride is clearly BS since the skill is available to all.
There is a horse trader in Minas Morgul but that is for Mages only.
There was a stables in Terel, dunno if that is still there, but don't think the horses were as good as bree stock somehow?

Goblins don't have much differences to dwarves. And both can ride a horse with AG skills.

Sure big players do not have a huge need for steeds.
But for carrying loot etc they are _very_ valuable.
For new players some races not being able to have a beast of burden loot carrier is a huge disadvantage.

I actually tried to capture and break in a warg :)
The warg which the JBS orc rides will autohunt you if you kill him and not it.
So I killed the orc and dragged the warg to Bree, it did not follow me into a safe room, but stopped hunting after that.
So I was still fighting it, unwielded and kept trying to mount it, but didn't work.
Could have tried relogging but wouldn't have helped.
Great awareness those wargs, could maybe try placing some as anti ranger sentries :)

There is a possible balance issue here.
1) Certain racial guilds have their own steeds. They however (seem to) pay tax for these, remembering back to when taxes where public there was added taxes (1%) for guilds with messengers, taxes for mounts etc. (I may be wrong, so lets call this an educated guess.)
2) No tax steeds are available, to a limited part of population.
So why should someone pay tax for what another gets without tax?
Why should some be discriminated against with a varied world which incorporates all sides?

Also red fang steeds are great, but cannot take a saddlebag, which is why I want a steed anyway.
So to balance either remove all tax free steeds and create a riding craft guild.
Or remove taxes for all steeds and make them available to all, the special guild ones are just adding a different flavour.

Also Creed if you want to call BS on a goblin riding a warg for RP reasons.
Did any knight put in a bug report after the recode allowed your war horses to start climbing cliffs etc?
That is a _huge_ RP cop out..
Nigget - "Waa waaa I can't take my warhorse to Terel trolls."
Pro Niggets Wiz - "Ok sorted, RP be damed.."
I guess the RP might be sound as long as you call your warhorse Pegasus!! :P :P

Ogres and minotaurs riding? Nah, I dont think so, thats sounds just wrong.

Goblin... sure. A wolf-renter somewhere might be a cool thing. Allthough a wolf shouldnt be able to carry as much load as a horse, but some bag, why not? Sounds cool.

But then again, its what makes the red fang cool, wolves for everyone kinda takes away the cool factor for that guild? Besides, goblins are the best combat race there is, them not being able to visit certain places or ride horses kinda balance them a little?

RF wolves can't carry saddlebags, true. But they can do a lot of things normal horses can't (like sneaking I mentioned earlier) and are 10x less problematic and spammy when moving around.
And Tarax, great idea about the warg mount attmept. Perhaps you could get Draugor or someone else to try it with you? RF have "wolf riding" skill you know.

Creed just because you dont think so. dosnt make it alright..All goodies benefit from killing in harrad from times to times. but when AA has made their way from the mountains to harrad, and patroling the camp, we are on the verge of exhaustion.. and you can just ride your sweet knigget and elven horses to safty and leave us standing there catching our breaths.

Come on..why is it that its only the goodguys that should be abel to Powerloot with the benefits from horses..? and why it it only goodies whining up about it. All evils should be able to mount something. Hell ogres of AA could hire olifants.. hehe. Why are you so against Minoes and goblins and orcs should have the chance to ride. ??
Your complaining about fatigue when if I remember right Mino's have the highest damaging special for layman? I'll give you a mount and you give me some of that damage ;)

Goblins have a mount and Orcs are buggy like Mino's I believe and if you were anything other then a goblin before you can still purchase a horse. In fact, minotaurs can purchase horses they just can't be goblin based.
