Ogres

Cheers on the concept really.
It’s refreshing and fun, especially because it leaves me always something to do – either grind exp (fully armed) or skulls (even unarmed).
It allows me to either sell the gear I am hunting anyway (old habits die hard and long) or destroy it the ogre way. Win/Win situation.
The need to plow through mobs to get skulls side-yields cash and imbuements, which cancel eachother out (nullstone costs) for the most part. Another Win/Win situation.

The special stinks for the most part (in my opinion) but the hammers really make up for that. It's quite priceless to see yourself "beat" trolls with your hammers, while in other guilds there were scrapes, bruises and casual scratches with a rare rake.

Last thing about ogres - so relaxed playing, that I can have Gen on my smartphone while doing the "great pretending" at the office.

Now please get more players back so they can buy the shit from AH. I mean - slender pikes (savers) NOT selling at 10plats is a loss! ;)

Thanks for the comments, Laurel. Just about everything with the Ogres worked out the way I wanted it to. The one thing I'm not satisfied with is the progression of things you unlock with skull accomplishments. Only the first members of the guild got to experience the "unlocking" of guild options, and I should have worked that somehow into an individual experience so that it worked with all members no matter when they joined.

Priceless as well:
When you rip a head from (example) Calof and hang it from your belt and then glance at Calof you will look at his head hanging from your belt!

I'll strongly second Laurel's points. Waited a long time to join and it was well worth the wait. There are perks and drawbacks and I've never been in such a happy-go-lucky guild. Happy-go-lucky-rip-the-heads-off-your-enemies. :D

Everything from the joining, to the help files (ogghelp is BRILLIANT!), emotes, etc. are perfect.

Code: Select all

You bend way down and pat Irk on his head with your fingertips.

Thanks, Gorby. That made my day.

Hee hee! I'm so glad you're enjoying it. The emotes and "effects" of being an ogre are my favorite part of the guild.

I agree with everyone here,

Ogres is the first real "Transformative" guild. It is the only guild in Genesis that really takes you as a person and completely transforms you in all aspects (stats, skills, abilities, armours, etc...) into something new.

Very unique, very well done. I feel bad for those who come in late though and miss the excitement of unlocking the different components of the guildhall through skulls, but perhaps it makes it a more appealing guild that they are all essentially unlocked.

Unless, perhaps, Gorboth hid some top secret things away in the billions of skulls :)

The mere thought that there's something hidden there excites me. They're really coming back in popularity (though the heart and soul of the guild -- Hrolg and Harley -- are still very active too) and that's awesome to see.

Maybe with proper motivation Gorby will consider events (elf attack) or drunken Ogre celebrations for certain new milestones. I think the guild is at 5.4M skulls, maybe each 500k there's a party or something -- The Bosses have an elf roast! :D

Always liked the idea of stuff placed "beyond" reach really. Some unlock, some achievement, some powers, or some access...always a strive, running after that damn distant carrot, rewarding the very few in the end.

Gogo Gorboth.

Doesn't even have to be powerful, or an ability at all, just meaningful enough to strive for...and most will rise to the challenge! :)

The one thing I'm not happy about with the build is, as you mention, the fact that the most exciting part was only around for the first few months as the players worked hard to unlock all of the guild potentials. It was a mistake not to somehow make that an individual ladder rather than a guild-wide ladder.

Regarding that ladder, however ... yes, there are still a few things that have yet to be unlocked. ;-)
