Thank you for multigenerational fun

Post by Ives » 02 Mar 2015 06:20

My kids are playing Genesis now, and I can't even begin to express how happy it makes me. Today I told my son to go pick up the bathroom, and he stood up from the computer in a fit of fury, saying, "Mom! I'm playing Genesis! It is EDUCATIONAL!!" And, he was right. He still had to pick up the bathroom, but I just love how the game is not just engaging, well-written, and endlessly fun, but it's motivating my kids to improve their reading, typing, spelling, and logic skills in a way that plain old homework just never will. I homeschool them, so I have been giving them the option of playing Genesis for a while, or doing reading/spelling work of a different kind. I'm sure you can guess which one they choose. :)

I never thought, when I started playing in 1993 or 4, that I would be sharing this world with my kids. I'm enormously grateful to everyone who has had a hand in it.

Thank you!

go have your kids solve the bank quest in gelen. See how good they are at "New Math"
hehehe id bet 10$ they solve it faster than any genesis vet. the secret to "new math" is only a child can understand it.

as fristerating as that quest is it would be cool if you could do it after you solved it. (as a daily or weekly) because it never gets easier. maybe have it pay out a gem rather than qexp if done repetedly. repeatable quests that pay out gems (after first time)would be awsome for academic guild members who are always asking where they can get quartz/onyx. or for other guilds that use gems for spells.

Awesome! I've had my own kids do a bit of Genesis, too. A few of them have the potential to be good wizards, I even think!

Hmmm ... now that's actually scary.

Mmmmmm ... pie ...
