Giant Black Maul - Is it a club or a polearm?

Post by Ilrahil » 31 Mar 2011 21:47

I'm bringing this up because

A: A maul's definition is from Merriam Webster:

Code: Select all

: a heavy often wooden-headed hammer used especially for driving wedges; also : a tool like a sledgehammer with one wedge-shaped end that is used to split wood
B: In game it is not only recognized as a maul but also as a mace.

Code: Select all

> get maces from rack
You get a giant black maul, a dwarven war-mace and a black spiked mace from the large wooden rack.
My suggestion. It should not be solely changed from polearm but to when wielded two-handed it is a polearm, and when the grip is changed to one-handed it turn into a club.

errrr, the GBM is actually the reason why Laurel is reconsidering speccing into polearms ... making it a club would completely destroy one of my Gen heirlooms (and there's not plenty of those)

That's why I said to not change it from a polearm but make it different depending on how its wielded. Or at least change the description/short description.

Just out of curiosity why would you want to use it other then to break armours? Massive strength would be needed to make the hits worth it and while the damage is nice it misses way too much, more then the GT. Wouldn't you be better off as a ranger using the pike?

If it was changed this would make me very sad :( I like being able to use it as a polearm one-handed

I got this one as a gift as someone evil whispered it was a club as well as polearm.
Needless to say it was just an evil rumour
Now I already got ultraclubbers so no need for maul, was just a walk down memory lane.
I think for ogres the GBM should be a club as we are large enough to use it as one :P
